LASIK (LASER-ASSISTED IN SITU KERATOMILEUSIS)

The most frequently performed laser vision correction procedure is LASIK. The surgeon lifts a thin flap of tissue on the outer surface of the cornea, then the cool beam of the excimer laser is used to reshape the underlying cornea. The flap is then replaced and bonds without the need for stitches.

CUSTOM LASIK

Personalized to the unique characteristics of each eye to produce sharper, clearer, more accurate vision, particularly for patients with more severe vision problems. Improved night vision and reduced glare have also been reported with Custom LASIK.

MYOPIANearsightedness - causes distant objects to appear blurry while near objects appear clear.

ASTIGMATISMObjects are not focused into a single image and vision is distorted or blurry. May be present alone or in addition to nearsightedness or farsightedness.

PRESBYOPIAThe inability to focus on near objects that occurs normally with age. Even after laser vision correction, most people with presbyopia will still need glasses for close-up activities.

HYPEROPIAFarsightedness - causes near objects to appear blurry, while distant objects appear clear. In some cases, may cause blurriness in both distance and near vision.
