• Recycling bins are free • Charges apply to sizes above
the standard 80L garbage bin • A maximum of two bins of each
type are allowed at your property • Charges apply to additional garbage bins.

On Bin Collection Day

Ensure your bins are collected by placing your bins out correctly every time
No overfilled bins• Do not place rubbish on or
next to your bin, these will not be collected.
• Do not overfill your bin, the lids must close.
• The maximum weight is 70kg.
Damaged, stolen and missed binsIf your bin is stolen, damaged or has not been collected, please report it to us online or via our Customer Service.
Be on timePlace bins out the night before collection day. Once collected, return back to your property within 24 hours.
Correct bin placement• Place bins side by side leaving at least 50cm
apart and clear of obstructions.
• Bins should be placed next to the kerb, with handles facing away from the road.
Place your bins correctly for your street type:
Dead EndPlace all bins on one side of your street.
Court BowlDo not place your bin in the court bowl end of your street.
HammerheadDo not place your bin in the corners of the hammerhead of your street.

The garbage bin should be your last resort, everything placed in it goes to landfill, where it is never used again
Please bag all garbage to reduce pests and wind blown litter
E-waste is any item with a plug, battery
or cord that is no longer working or wanted
By Victorian law, e-waste shouldn’t be placed in your kerbside
bins, but it can be recycled at the Recycling & Waste Centre.

Bookings close at 3pm on Wednesday for collection the following week.
• Bookings will be confirmed by SMS and/or email.
• Confirmed bookings may receive an information pack including an orange ‘BOOKED’ sticker.
• Place the sticker on an item so it is visible from the road.
Neatly stack your collectionOnly place accepted items on your nature strip the weekend prior to your booked collection week (before Sunday night).
• Excess items will be counted as two collections.
• Items should be no heavier than two people can lift.
• Items should be no more than 3 cubic metres.
• Unaccepted items will not be collected.

Preventing Litter & Dumped Rubbish
Litter is a serious offence and has a significant impact on all of us, both financially and environmentally.
Dumped rubbish costs Council and the community thousands of dollars each year to clean up.
Report littering & dumped rubbish Keep Whitehorse clean and report dumped rubbish or litter easily via the Snap, Send, Solve app or by emailing Customer Service.
Please provide as much information as possible, such as:
