We Love Groups!Welcome to the beautiful Rogue Valley and Ashland, home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, America’s largest rotating repertory theatre. Twenty percent of our 400,000 tickets each season are sold to groups, so rest assured we have the resources, skills and desire to provide your group with the journey of a lifetime.

Many people think OSF offers only Shakespeare plays. While the Bard is our inspiration and anchor, we offer a wide range of classical and modern plays and musicals performed by an outstanding multicultural acting company. Of the eleven plays offered this season, three are by Shakespeare and the rest are a mix of comedy, tragedy, American classics, world premieres and more.

With the beauty of rotating repertory at OSF, it’s possible to see four plays in two days, or even nine plays in five days at the height of our summer and fall seasons.

Our website’s “Plan Your Visit” section can help you not just plan your playgoing, but also provide recommendations for travel, lodging, and all that southern Oregon has to offer, including shopping, galleries, hiking, sightseeing, wine tasting and much more. And for a handy list of group-friendly establishments, be sure to see the pull-out lodging and dining guide inside this brochure.

Much Ado about Nothing by William ShakespeareFebruary 20 – November 1Directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz

Don’t believe everything you hearLove’s in the air when Don Pedro’s army, drunk with victory from the war, descends upon Leonato’s country estate in Messina. Traveling with him is Claudio, who wants to marry Leonato’s daughter Hero. Meanwhile, Claudio’s friend Benedick and Leonato’s lively niece Beatrice hide their mutual attraction behind a volley of witty insults. But their world is shattered when Claudio, influenced by a scheming malcontent, levels a shocking accusation at Hero. A linguistically challenged guard and his sidekicks uncover the plot, making sorrow vanish like mist beneath the warm Messina sun.

Guys and DollsMusic and lyrics by Frank Loesser; book by Jo Swerling and Abe BurrowsFebruary 22 – November 1Directed by Mary Zimmerman

Good old reliable NathanNathan Detroit runs the oldest established permanent floating crap game in New York. There are well-heeled shooters everywhere, but it’s no dice unless they have a place to gamble—and that takes dough. Nathan’s bet on a date between high-rolling Sky Masterson and a straight-laced Salvation Army doll might pay off, but luck’s a fickle lady. Besides, his fiancée Miss Adelaide will walk out if she doesn’t walk down the aisle soon. What’s a poor guy to do? Put your money on this hilarious musical classic by Loesser, Swerling and Burrows, based on the spirited stories of Damon Runyon.

Fingersmith Adapted by Alexa Jungefrom the book by Sarah WatersFebruary 21 – July 9World PremiereDirected by Bill Rauch

A wild ride of a crime thrillerAt first, the job seems simple: All pickpocket Sue Trinder has to do is help a con man cheat a gullible young heiress out of her fortune. But nothing is quite what it seems in this gritty mystery set in Victorian England. As the twisting story sends Sue spiraling through squalid London streets, madhouses and a stifling mansion with a ghastly secret, it leads her to the most dangerous landscape of all: awakening sexuality, love and betrayal. Bill Rauch directs this adaptation of Sarah Waters’ 2002 novel, a finalist for the Man Booker Prize.

Secret Love in Peach Blossom Landby Stan LaiApril 15 – October 31Directed by Stan Lai

Two plays, one world theatre experienceA pair of plays—one a bawdy retelling of a classic Chinese fable, and the other a poignant story of a couple separated in the wake of China’s 1949 revolution—collide onstage when two acting troupes accidentally book the same theatre for rehearsals. Amid the chaos, squabbles and comical jabs at theatre life, the two plays begin to mysteriously intertwine, their epic themes calling to each other across the centuries in a blend of modern realism and Peking opera. Internationally acclaimed Taiwanese playwright Stan Lai directs his 1986 meditation on love, loss and memory, regarded as a masterwork of modern theatre in China.

Sweatby Lynn NottageJuly 29 – October 31World PremiereDirected by Kate Whoriskey

Dark divides in the American dreamA group of close friends shares everything: drinks, secrets and laughs. But when rumors of layoffs shake up the factory where they work, the fragile bonds of their community begin to splinter and a horrific crime sends shock waves across two generations. This powerful world premiere by acclaimed playwright Lynn Nottage (Ruined, Intimate Apparel) explores America’s industrial decline of the 1990s with a look inside a Pennsylvania town whose people struggle to reclaim what’s lost, find redemption and redefine themselves in a new century. Co-commissioned with Arena Stage through OSF’s American Revolutions program.

Periclesby William ShakespeareFebruary 26 – November 1Directed by Joseph Haj

A fabulous odyssey Pericles, Prince of Tyre, sets out to woo a princess and sails headlong into harrowing adventure. Pursued by an evil king, Pericles is blown from port to exotic port. Along the way, he finds the love of his life, then loses her and their infant daughter in a storm-tossed sea. Happily, this is a Romance—Shakespeare’s first—so miraculous occurrences and divine intervention are the order of the day. In true storybook fashion, the lost are reunited with those who love them, finding joy and safe harbor at last.

Long Day’s Journey into Nightby Eugene O’NeillMarch 25 – October 31Directed by Christopher Liam Moore

This house is haunted Actor James Tyrone’s summer home is full to the brim with alcohol, addiction, failed dreams and ghosts of resentments gone but hardly forgotten. Mary, his delicate wife, nurses her losses and lives in an idealized past. His eldest son Jamie is a failed actor who excels at one role: the scapegoat who, more often than not, tells the brutal truth. Only Edmund, the youngest, might succeed if he can overcome his heredity and precarious health. OSF is proud to present Eugene O’Neill’s autobiographical masterpiece in which hell is a family whose members want to love each other but don’t know how.

The Happiest Song Plays Lastby Quiara Alegría HudesJuly 7 – November 1Directed by Shishir Kurup

Finding your place in a changing world Iraq War vet Elliot Ortiz has a bright new career: movie star. But shooting a film on location in Jordan, with the tumultuous Arab Spring rumbling nearby, he finds that his wartime nightmares have followed him into his new life. Back in Philadelphia, his cousin Yaz has her hands full cooking for the homeless and trying to keep her beloved community from crumbling. This powerful sequel to Quiara Alegría Hudes’ Water by the Spoonful explores the places we live our lives, and the places we can’t forget—all set to a joyful pulse of Puerto Rican folk music.

Antony and Cleopatraby William ShakespeareJune 2 – October 9Directed by Bill Rauch

A love that changed historyA fateful meeting reshapes the ancient world when the great Roman warrior Mark Antony, like Caesar before him, falls in love with the incomparable Cleopatra, Queen of the Nile. His devotion to desire rather than duty is the beginning of a downward spiral for him, the Republic and Cleopatra, the last in her bloodline. Shakespeare’s tragedy presents history as a breathtaking pageant full of passion, intrigue, exotic locales and the larger-than-life characters that brought about the death of an Egyptian dynasty and the birth of the Roman Empire.

Head Over HeelsScript by Jeff Whitty;Music and lyrics by the Go Go’sJune 3 – October 10 World PremiereDirected by Ed Sylvanus Iskandar

Irreverent fun under the starsA duke. A mysterious prophecy. Two daughters: one mobbed by suitors, the other . . . not so much. And all to a soundtrack by 1980s pop icons the Go Go’s? An Elizabethan love story is turned on its head in this exuberant musical by playwright Jeff Whitty (Avenue Q, The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler), inspired by Sir Philip Sidney’s 16th-century pastoral romance, Arcadia. This world premiere promises a delicious mix of razor-sharp wordplay, infectious songs and romantic surprises.

The Count of Monte Cristoby Alexandre Dumas; Adapted by Charles FechterJune 4 – October 11Directed by Marcela Lorca

You can’t keep a good man downEdmund Dantès has it all—a flourishing naval career, loyal friends, a bright future. But he also has an enemy, a jealous schemer who will stop at nothing to steal what Dantés loves most: his beautiful fiancée. A trap is set, Dantès is wrongfully imprisoned . . . and the tangle of lies that changes his life in an instant takes years to undo. Alexandre Dumas’ classic tale of vengeance comes alive in this 19th-century adaptation that was one of the most-performed plays in America under its star James O’Neill, whose son Eugene later memorialized him in the semiautobiographical Long Day’s Journey into Night.
