Home Heating Thanks to a propane furnace, you don’t have to deal with cold spots common to electric heat pumps. Why? Propane furnaces provide consistent heating comfort no matter how cold it is outside because they’re heating your home’s internal air with combustion. Some electric systems are advertised as being energy efficient but they can be disappointing when the weather turns colder – these systems use heat exchangers to extract heat from outdoor air but if outdoor temperatures are very cold there is less heat to be extracted in the first place, making these systems work overtime and over budget. Water Heating Tankless water heaters are powered by propane and are considered “on demand” because they only turn on when there is a need for hot water. This means your fuel isn’t being used when it’s not needed, unlike storage water heaters that keep 40 gallons of water hot and ready to use at all times. Another great benefit of going tankless is the size you are working with: they don’t require a bulky storage tank and these units hang on the wall, taking up a smaller footprint. Clothes Drying Despite the initial price tag of a propane dryer being about $100 more than an electric unit, they are about 20% less expensive to operate annually compared to electric. This is because a propane dryer will take less time to dry your clothes by using steam drying. An electric model uses sensors to determine the moisture left in the load which can sometimes add up to 20 minutes to your cycle time. Cooking Visibility and precision are important factors for many home cooks and propane burners help achieve both. Propane burners offer nearly unlimited settings ranging from a low simmer to rapid boil whereas an electric model may only have 8-10 different heat settings. Also, pans and their contents respond faster to temperature changes with propane heat because a flame will apply heat directly to the pan while electric cooking elements heat the stove surface first then your pan itself. Everyone loves a lower utility bill and an all-propane powered home can help – the more appliances and systems you have that run on propane, the bigger the benefits! By choosing to install propane powered space heaters, water heaters, clothes dryers, and stove tops you can improve your home’s efficiency, clean our air, and most importantly, put your dollar savings to use in other ways that will benefit your family. Proposition 65, the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986

To comply with Proposition 65, the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, we are obliged to issue the following warning:

PROPANE contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer or reproductive harm. State law requires us to warn you of the presence of these chemicals. Benzene, soot and formaldehyde are such chemicals. A trace amount of benzene may occur in propane, but will normally be consumed during combustion.

Exposure through leaking gas is possible. Soot and formaldehyde, byproducts of burning gas, are minimized by proper combustion. Delta Liquid Energy encourages all of its customers to use propane safely. You should read and follow all use, care, and manufacturer instructions for propane appliances and equipment. Proper ventilation and frequent inspection of propane appliances and equipment are highly recommended.

Our service technicians are available to check and adjust your propane gas appliances. A warning odor is added to propane so that leaks of unburned gas can be quickly detected. If gas odor is detected, call us immediately.

Sunshine and summertime make for a great excuse to spend an afternoon on the course. During your round of golf, though, you probably don’t think about the energy efficiency, cost effectiveness, or performance power of the lawn mowers used to clip the green to perfection. Whether you are the patron enjoying the beauty of the course or the maintenance manager working with a crew to groom each blade of grass, there are green benefits to propane that we all can appreciate.

Propane provides reduced fuel costs compared to diesel and gasoline, some companies citing savings of 50 percent per gallon of fuel and 70 percent savings on maintenance. This helps the golf courses pass those savings along to the communities they service.

Options for on-site fueling are available to allow for quick and easy refills so these mowers can get back to doing what they do best – creating the perfect putting greens and fairways! This also allows crews to spend more time on the jobsite than at a gas station refueling.

Finally, no one can forget about the environmentally green savings; propane reduces carbon footprints by emitting less greenhouse gases than both diesel and gasoline.

If you are the maintenance supervisor on a golf course or are part of another company that utilizes lawn mowing equipment, you can check out your cost savings using the Propane Education and Research Council’s “Propane Mower Calculator” at www.propane.com/commercial-landscape. Also, our friends at PERC are offering a limited time rewards program for landscape contractors. You can earn up to $1,000 in rebates for purchasing new mowers or converting your existing fleet. As the summer heat continues to blaze through California, it is important to adhere to safety precautions during these periods of extreme heat. By discussing the following with your family you can reduce the potential for property loss, personal injury, and even death.

BEFORE1. Be sure you know how and where to shut off your propane supply both outside and at your inside appliances.

2. Make sure you and your family know what propane smells like.

3. Never store a propane cylinder indoors or in an enclosed area.

4. We recommend that you install a carbon monoxide detector in your home and a propane gas detector, which will provide additional security. These safety devices can be purchased at your local hardware store or online.

DURING1. Make sure your propane tank and propane grill both have a 10-foot clearance of any dry bush or debris that may ignite easily. This includes leaves, brush, vegetation, rags, and any trash.

AFTER1. If extreme heat conditions cause power outages or wildfires near you, it is important to remember to never use an outdoor propane appliance indoors or in enclosed areas as this could result in CO2 poisoning.

2. Never try to modify or repair valves, regulators, or other appliance parts. Instead, call your local DLE representatives and we will send a technician out to assist you.

3. Do inspect your propane appliances for water or other damage if it is safe to do so. If these appliances have an electric component that has been exposed to water, they can be a fire hazard. If you are ever in doubt, call us to schedule a safety inspection with a certified DLE technician.
