What a summer! As our camp season has drawn to a close and another school year of campus ministry has started, as a staff we first took time to compile our fall “Good News” letter. This letter is our chance to thank God for what he did this summer in the lives of our campers and to thank you for the part you played in making it happen! Over the summer we had the privilege of seeing many lives changed. There were difficulties as well. Many youth shared their brokenness with us. It came in many different forms: absent fa-thers, divorce, abuse, alcohol, drugs, depression, sex, loneliness, and I could go on and on… As a staff however, through the difficul-ties, we learned to lean even more on God who alone can change hearts and lives. We saw dozens of teens come to Christ, and many more fully commit to him! For many of our students camp gave us a chance to begin relationships that will continue into a new school year.
I would like to also take a moment to thank the hundreds of people and dozens of churches who came
together with us to make camp happen this summer. Did you realize that you had a vital part in helping us to have camp this summer? Here is just a partial list of critical roles that our part-ners and volunteers filled for us this summer: cabin counse-lors, camp nurse, bus drivers, cooks, programming directors, camp speakers, prayer-warriors, donors (camper scholarships, general fund givers, food, t-shirts), loaders and much more! We thank God for each of you.
Also - please note on the back of this newsletter information about our upcoming Brunswick Stew Fundraiser. We are in need of people to buy stew, volunteers to help us prepare, and $8,000 in underwriting to help us cover expenses. If you are interested please call the office for more info (336-274-9641).
Thank you for faithfulness. To God be the Glory!

"Camp has helped me to restore my connection with
God and to strive to be a better Christian. I
really needed to come to camp
this week because the last few weeks have been hard with finding out that
my aunt has cancer [and] with
the lesson on 'Jesus Sees My Mess,' it showed
me that God will strengthen and walk with me through
these times."

“This camp had a major im-
pact on me and taught me
many lessons such as: the
importance of servant-
hood. The value of individual-
ism. The impact you can have
on someone. Though we may
seem too small, we each have
a purpose.” Tyler 8th Grade

This is poverty. But not the poverty I was expecting. Many people have this image in their head when they think of the word
'poverty'. They usually think sad. Alone. Depressing. But that is not the case. San Benito is a true community. Every person in
there helps each other, relies on each other, and loves each other. They work together to build what is necessary to continue
moving forward. We were supposed to be giving them a break from the hard work they do everyday. But they STILL got up to
help move wood with us and build the bridge. They do things together, as a big family. They took the word 'community' to a
whole new level. (Natalie - 11th grade)

Our annual Brunswick Stew sale will be Saturday, October 1st. A successful
stew project raises about $15,000 and YFC depends on this fundraiser to pump
needed funds into the ministry during a slow time of year.
We could use your help in several different ways:
1) Volunteer to help prepare and make 1650 quarts of stew:
Friday, 9-12 Noon, and Saturday, 8 AM - 3 PM
2) Order delicious Stew @ $8.00 per quart (can be picked
up on Saturday at the YFC Office @ 824 S. Aycock Street)
3) Contribute towards our underwriting goal of $8,000.
Please call the YFC office if you can help: 274-9641.

Later, she went on to receive her Master’s in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in 2014. She has been a vol-unteer for Campus Life at Southeast Guilford MS. She felt the call to return to the ministry and is excited about coming back on staff with YFC. Vanessa is mar-ried to Robert York and has five children. We are so happy to have her back with her YFC family as our new City Life Director!
