Drop in to explore learning and employment opportunities. We can also assist you with applications, licenses, budgeting, referrals and navigating red tape.

The ‘What’ Bus Multiple Locations, refer to
the ‘What’ Bus schedule.
Frankston Youth Service’s new youth bus will deliver youth support services to the
Frankston municipality. The bus is custom fitted with gaming facilities, laptop stations, giant games and much more. The ‘What’ Bus can be found at the local foreshore, skate
parks, the Youth Hangouts, community centres, shopping centres and youth hotspots. Our youth workers will be providing information and advice, raising awareness, providing a safe space to hang out at events and targeted outreach support to young people in the

School Holiday Program
Multiple Locations
The School Holiday Programs are fun activities that are designed for young people aged 12 – 17 years. The program runs every school holidays. This provides a variety different opportunities for young people varying from the skills they learn in each program to the
social aspect they get from being around their peers.

L2P Learner Driver Mentor
Program
The L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program is a community based program providing on road
driving experience to learner drivers who would otherwise find it difficult to accrue the minimum amount of experience required. With the assistance of volunteer mentor driving
supervisors, Council helps coordinate this program in the City of Frankston. This is a free service for eligible young people to help them gain the necessary skills to obtain their

Youth Council
The Youth Council are an advocacy youth group who live, work and/or study in the
Frankston municipality. They provide advice, suggestions and recommendations to the Council on a range of issues and services that may affect young people in the local
community. They also develop and manage projects and volunteer within the community.

Cooking programs provide young people with an interest in cooking an opportunity to
learn and develop their knowledge and skills of nutrition and food preparation. Karingal cooking program caters for young people 12 – 17 years

Active Arvos is a non-competitive program where young people can get together and be
involved with a huge range of sports such as basketball, football, dodge ball, kickball, boxing and lots more. Active Arvo programs run during school terms only.

Fresh Entertainment & Recording Studio
20R Ebdale St Frankston
Fresh Entertainment (Freeza) is a volunteer committee that organises local events. They
meet once a week, discuss events such as Open Mic nights.
There is also a recording studio at Ebdale Community Centre. Volunteer audio engineers and music producers are trained, resourced and supported to develop their own initiatives and projects at the recording studio with young local musicians and performers, at no cost
to the participant.

Street Art Program 60A Playne St Frankston
The Street Art Program provides young people with the opportunity to express themselves in creative, prosocial ways, while reducing vandalism and connecting with their community
in a positive way. Participants work alongside youth workers and professional street artists, who upskill and offer guidance to the group as they design and paint murals around
Frankston. This program offers support for young people who wish to pursue their aspirations through education and employment pathways.

SCHOOL BASED PROGRAMS Frankston Youth Services offer a range of FREE programs to all schools in the Frankston municipality.
Programs can be tailored to meet the needs of your school or can be offered as pre-packaged programs. If you would like a program to be tailored to your school’s needs please contact Frankston Youth Services to discuss your options.

Information Session
Audience: Students between 12-18 years. Setting: 10-15 minute classroom or assembly spoken presentation Overview: A 10-15 minute run down on the programs, support and events offered by Frankston Youth Service. Example of the Program in Action: One of our qualified and experience youth workers speaking to students about the support, programs and events offered by Frankston Youth Service.

Grade 6 Transition Program
Audience: Grade 6 students Setting: Classroom session (One period, once of session) Overview: The program aims to assist young people with the transition from Primary to Secondary school through exploration of strengths, support people and opportunities available to them throughout their high school experience. The importance of support seeking behaviour and the idea of Year 7 as a time for exploration and discovery are emphasized. This program can be tailored to your school’s specific needs.

Year 7 Program
Audience: Year 7 students Setting: Classroom sessions Overview: The year 7 program is about creating a positive environment amongst students in a fun and safe atmosphere as they are transitioning into high school. Aside from offering year 7 students a recreational based session, this is about informing young people about the different supports they can access within their school and community, including teachers, wellbeing staff, youth workers and external services. Examples of the Program in Action: Through a mixture of games and discussion, this program seeks to allow students to get to know each other better through ice-breakers, that’s about exploring expectation vs realities of entering high school and one on one discussions between students and teachers.

Lunchtime Engagement Program
Setting: Lunchtime once a week Audience: Suitable for Year 7s (Depends on the needs of the school) Overview: Lunchtime programs are aimed at providing a recreational outlet for young people during school hours while connecting them to the local youth service. Year 7 only lunchtime programs provide year 7’s with a safe and relaxed space, where they can socialise and participate with recreational activities with the youth workers and friends. The aim is to help assist them with their transition to high school to make it as smooth as possible, by giving them a safe place to go when feeling overwhelmed etc. Example of the Program in Action: The activities we provide depend on the needs of the school, with options such as board games and gaming (WiiU and XBOX), sports and other recreational activities.

The What Bus
Audience: Students between 12-18 years. Setting: On the Frankston Mobile Youth Service’s ‘The What Bus’. Overview: The ‘What Bus’ is used for Youth outreach within all Frankston LGAs and can also be hired out for outreach opportunities that align with Frankston Youth Services’ core purpose as an extra layer of support and engagement for young people within the Frankston Municipality. Examples of hire opportunities may include festivals/youth recognition events, shopping centres, promotional days, school/ community wellbeing days and sports days. Examples of the program in action: This Bus is custom fitted with gaming facilities, laptop stations, giant games and much more; the activities we provide depend on the needs of the area/school.

PARTNER PROGRAMS
Peninsula Pride (Headspace)
62 Playne Street, Frankston
Peninsula Pride “Under the Rainbow” provides young LGBTIQA+ people, aged 12 -17 years,
a safe space to socialise and develop friendships with other LGBTIQA+ young people.
Peninsula Pride “Over the Rainbow” provides LGBTIQA+ people, aged 18 – 25 years, with fortnightly social groups, to socialise and develop friendships with other LGBTIQA+ people
and allies. Currently there is a fortnightly “LGBTIQA+ Coffee Club” and “Book Club”.

Youth Training Café Frankie’s Café 55 Towerhill Rd Frankston South
Frankies Café is a free 10 week program, running on Mondays and Thursdays at Frankston South Community and Recreation Centre. This program teaches young people a wide
range of accredited traning qualifications and experience within the hospitality industry. The program assists young people aged between 15-24, who are not employed or
engaged, in education or training.

Fitness Sessions
(Living the Dream Foundation)

The Fitness Sessions are run by Living the Dream Foundation, Richard Weiss, which provides organised fitness activities, information about healthy diet, lifestyle and
wellbeing. The program is designed for disengaged young people aged 15-24 and aims to foster their confidence and development by empowering them to take responsibility for
their health and wellbeing, while establishing healthy habits and routines for life.
