Asheville Ultimate Club 242 Charlotte St. Suite #1 Asheville, NC 28801 February 12th 2015 To: Asheville Area Youth Schools’ Administrators and Athletic Directors Asheville Area Ultimate Advisors and Coaches Asheville Area Youth, Parents and Guardians Asheville Ultimate Community Dear Educators, Parents, and Ultimate Community: Since its inception in 1994, the Asheville Ultimate Club has been dedicated to its Mission of providing opportunities to learn, play, and teach the sport of Ultimate [Frisbee]. I’m writing to you today because I want to make sure you’re aware of AUC’s Spring 2015 Youth programming, available entirely free to the community, and coordinated by our incredible Volunteers. Please read on to see the opportunities available to your school or child.
Youth Ultimate Open House
Wednesday February 25th 6 to 8pm @ Asheville Middle School (following Youth Pickup at Memorial Stadium 3 5 pm)
AUC Youth Coordinator Evelina Pierce and the AUC Youth Committee invite all of you to an Open House to kick off the Spring Season. We’ll briefly introduce the game and the cast of AUC Youth Volunteers and Coordinators over pizza. This will be a chance to put some faces to the emails, give some tips and tricks to organizing your team, and hopefully answer any questions anyone might have about the events below. RSVPs appreciated via the email at the bottom of this letter. (flyer attached)
Middle School Ultimate League
Wednesdays @ Memorial Stadium 3:00 5:00 pm March 4th May 20th
Our MS Ultimate Wednesdays were a big hit last Fall! All we ask is that an adult chaperone from your school accompanies your group and registers online to let us know which Wednesdays you’re coming. We’ll create a schedule for competition and match your group with a coach (if needed) for every week that your school can attend. High School Ultimate League March 4th thru May 20th @ Various Times & Locations
Chances are, students at your High School are already informally playing Ultimate amongst themselves. Please help us coordinate the interscholastic play they crave! All that’s needed is a member of your school’s staff to register your school online (free) and provide us with information on when and where your students regularly play. Mountain Sports Festival Youth Open
Friday May 22nd Sunday May 24th @ Carrier Park and Memorial Stadium The Asheville Ultimate Club annually participates in Mountain Sports Festival, but only more recently have we deliberately framed it to be a Spring finale tournament for Youth Ultimate. Register your school’s team in either the Middle School or High School division. Can the Owen HS Warhorses defend their 2014 Championship? Which Middle School team will be crowned the first ever MSF Middle School Youth Champion? MSF will also feature separate Clinics and Pickup for Ultimate players of all ages. Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, it is my pleasure to introduce you to AUC’s Youth Coordinator, Evelina Pierce. Though I’ve personally had the pleasure of reaching out to you as our Youth programming has expanded, Evelina has more skills, contacts, and capacity to be AUC’s primary Youth Coordinator and your goto for this Spring and beyond. She looks forward to making your acquaintance, hopefully at the Open House Feb 25th (see above). We hope that you are as excited as we are about the expansion of Youth Ultimate in Asheville!
