Youth Speak Forum

Youth Speak Forum is an event organized by AIESEC that takes place in multiple locations around the world, bringing top young leaders together with business leaders, thought leaders and experts for a conversation around youth contribution to the globe. The aim is to generate actionable ideas that will impact the world.

We make this happen by taking delegates through the unique interactive framework of Inspire, Engage, Act.

YOUTH SPEAKFORUM

Framework

Connecting Youth to Develop ASEAN Communities

Top business and thought leaders from around the world are invited to share their knowledge with the delegates about the chosen forum theme. This section of the day is delivered through short and powerful talks and aims to inspire delegates and help to form their opinions for the rest of the day.

ACT

Our partner organizations engage with the youth delegates to give new perspectives on issues relating to the forum theme through workshops, conversations and idea generation spaces. Youth and business are able to interact, exchange opinions and understand what is being done in the world already to address the question of the day.

INSPIRE

The youth delegates take their learning and insights from the day into a space where they are able to co-create ideas and solutions with their peers and experts in the room. The aim is to switch their ideas into actions that each stakeholder can take forward to contribute to the theme of the day, resulting in commitments and projects that organizations and stakeholders can support.

Youth-Led ASEAN

THEME

ASEAN is the 5th largest economy in the world (IMF). There are plenty of opportunities in the region but according to AIESEC Youth Speak Survey 2016, 71% of Singapore-based respondents are not aware of ASEAN Economic Community.

As leading nation in the region, how can youth in Singapore lead the development of the region?

Why?

Bridging The GapEngaging multiple stakeholders and the youth to focus on social innovation and finding solutions that tackle real-life problems.

fInviting Enterprises into the ConversationAllow for cross-sector collaboration to develop the content and scope of Corporate Social Responsibility activities, and to improve upon Employer Branding to the youth market.

Youth Engagement in ASEAN

Encouraging action to social issues and co-creating sustainable and innovative solutions. How can enterprises help to further the social cause?

At YouthSpeak, youth delegates from all over the region will be gathered to discuss the issues that matter to them. With the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015, how does the youth want to be engaged?

UN SDGs are the model for sustainable development and international cooperation today. How can the Youth incorporate this idea and work on the value of sustainability in their future workplace?

Leading Sustainable Social Innovation for ASEAN

SOCIAL INNOVATION

DEVELOPMENT OF ASEAN

How can we empower the youth and engage enterprises to create positive, lasting impact?

● Empowering the youth: We believe that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow - it is thus important to hear what ideas the youth can offer and contribute towards sustainable development. How can we empower the youth to speak up, and select ideas thereon?

● Engaging enterprises: We believe that enterprises are the enablers of change, and have the capactiy to support development in the region. Enterprises are also the hotbeds for social innovation. How can we then leverage on this and co-create partnerships?

● Creating positive, lasting impact: We believe that sustainable development is the most efficient way of developing the region. Impact created now can be multiplied and expanded through regional cooperation and benefit more people in the region. How can we create positive and lasting impact for ASEAN?

BREAKOUT SESSIONS

In these interactive sessions, participants learn more deeply about a specific topic in order to spark ideas to design projects and commitments. Participants brainstorm and generate answers to specific “how” questions, creating forward-thinking solutions and refining new approaches to global challenges. In teams, participants materialize ideas by identifying goals, timeline, and resources required.

Speakers and corporate representatives open up spaces for participants to consult and being guided. Under time pressure, participants should bring drafted ideas to seek for feedback and ask the right questions in order to improve on their projects.

Participants “pitch” their commitments to action and project ideas to an expert panel, then network with the audience to rethink their current strategies, identify potential resources, and establish innovative partnerships.
