Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God AUDIO 1

Introduction

John 1:29

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of

God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

I Peter 1:17 – 19

And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: 18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver

and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without

spot:

I Cor. 5:7

Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened.

For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

Now we will begin to research the last days of the life of Jesus Christ on earth. Our goal is to

get an overall picture of what happened. We will look at the events in chronological order up

until the records regarding the receiving of the holy spirit in the book of Acts. Our other goal

is to understand how Jesus Christ earned what we have received as a gift. Look at Acts 16:11

– 15, Luke 24:31 & 32, 44 & 45 (and I Cor. 2:6 – 16!)

First, we will clarify the time of the death of Jesus, because it is a time post from which we

can count forward and backward in order to learn what happened on each day.

In order to do this, we need to learn some facts regarding the Jewish feasts and the reckoning of time. Then we can just read the records and let the story build up.

The Jewish Feasts and the Reckoning of Time

Because Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God and the passover lamb which was sacrificed for us the events regarding his death are linked together with the passover celebrations of the Jews.

Exodus 23:14 – 17

Three times thou shalt keep a feast unto me in the year. 15 Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in

it thou camest out from Egypt: and none shall appear before me empty:) 16 And the feast of harvest, the firstfruits of thy labours, which thou hast sown in

the field: and the feast of ingathering, which is in the end of the year, when thou

hast gathered in thy labours out of the field. 17 Three times in the year all thy males shall appear before the LORD God.

Deuteronomy 16:16

Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the

place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of

weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before

the LORD empty:

The first month of the year was originally the month of Abib (Genesis 12:2 and 13:4). Later

in the book of Esther it got a new name, the month of Nisan. Ever since that time it has been

the name of the first month. We will use this name because it was used during the time of the Gospels.

Esther 3:7

In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus,

they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.

The Jewish day started at sunset and lasted until the next sunset. The daylight portion of the

day was divided into 12 equally long periods or hours.

John 11:9

Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day,

he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.

When the day was the longest at mid-summer it was 14 hours and 12 minutes and when the day was the shortest in mid-winter it was 9 hours and 48 minutes. Therefore, the hour during

mid-summer was 71 minutes and during mid-winter it was 49 minutes. At the end of the sixth

hour was noon. The end of the third hour was right in between sunrise and noon. The end of

the ninth hour was right in between noon and sunset. During the passover time, in the spring,

the hour was about 60 minutes long, so the sun rose at 6 am and went down at 6 pm.

Page 5: yuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnmqwertyuiopas ...€¦ · God giveth thee: 6 But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover

Only the weekly sabbath had a name. The other days of the week had no names. They were

called the first after the sabbath, the second after the sabbath etc. The first after the sabbath

corresponds with our Sunday and the 7th day of the week was the weekly sabbath.

During the Old Testament times the night was divided into three equally long watch hours

and during the Roman times into four equally long watch hours.

Psalm 63:5 & 6

My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise

thee with joyful lips: 6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

Mark 13:35

Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even,

or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:

Let’s now look at what instructions we can find regarding the passover or the feast of

unleavened bread in the books of Moses.

Exodus 12:1 – 6

In the evening (in verse 6) is literally “between the evenings”. This has been interpreted to

mean the time which begins when the sun begins to go down at noon and ends when the sun

goes behind the horizon. However, this is a time during the afternoon before sunset. This

describes the time at which the passover lamb had to be killed. According to Josephus, the

historian during the first century the common practice was to kill the passover lamb during the 9th hour which is about 3 pm.

Leviticus 23:5

In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD's passover.

Exodus 12:7 – 20, Leviticus 23:27 – 32 and 39 (sabbath), Numbers 28:16 – 18

(Look also at Numbers 9:3 and 5, Deuteronomy 16:6, Joshua 5:10, II Chronicles 35:1 and

Ezra 6:19!)

The passover lamb was eaten with unleavened bread and bitter herbs on the 15th of Nisan

after sunset and before mid-night because at that time God smote the firstborn of the

Egyptians (Exodus 12:12 & 13 and 29). The 15th of Nisan was a special sabbath day which

was the first day of the feast of unleavened bread.

Now it is very important to remember that they had two kinds of sabbath days. They had the

weekly sabbath which is our Saturday. This was every week on the Saturday. Then they had

special days of holy convocation. These days were also called a sabbath. They were on a

certain day of the month. During the feast of unleavened bread the 15th of Nisan and the 21st

of Nisan were these kind of special sabbath days (Exodus 12:16). It is like Christmas Day in our culture. It is always on the 25th of December and it is a bank holiday no matter what day

of the week it is.

Because Jesus was the Lamb of God and our passover lamb, he had to die on the last day of

the preparation for the feast of the unleavened bread, the 14th of Nisan “between the evenings” which is the 9th hour about 3 pm in the afternoon.

In Deuteronomy, there is one more instruction about the place where the passover lamb

should be killed:

Deuteronomy 16:5 & 6

Thou mayest not sacrifice the passover within any of thy gates, which the LORD thy

God giveth thee: 6 But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the season

that thou camest forth out of Egypt.

We know now that the place God chose is Jerusalem. So, the passover lamb had to be killed

outside of the gates of Jerusalem.

The Time of the Death of Jesus

In Matthew, there is some information which helps us to find the day of the week on which

Jesus died.

Matthew 12:40

For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

According to tradition Jesus died on Good Friday and rose up on Easter Sunday.

Matthew 27:46 and 50 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama

sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

Page 9: yuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnmqwertyuiopas ...€¦ · God giveth thee: 6 But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover

In the Gospel of John there is even more information which helps us to determine the day on

which Jesus Christ died.

John 19:30 & 31

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. 31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not

remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high

day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken

away.

for that sabbath day was an high day – this was the 15th of Nisan, the first day of the feast

of unleavened bread. Look at Deuteronomy 21!

Deuteronomy 21:22 & 23

And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death,

and thou hang him on a tree: 23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury

him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled,

which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

The legs of the crucified were broken to help the men die so they could be buried before

sunset. However, the legs of Jesus were not broken.

Exodus 12:46

In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad

out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof.

Matthew 27:57 – 63, Mark 15:42 – 47 and Luke 23:50 – 56, sindōn N4012/S4616

Luke 23:54

drew on – epiphōskō N1839/S2020 – This comes from epi – after and phōs – light. So, literally it means “after light” i.e. when it was getting dark.

Luke 23:54 could be translated like this:

“And that day was the (last) day of preparation and was getting dark toward the sabbath.”

John 19:38 – 42 and Matthew 28:1 – 4 (Beginning with verse 5 the story continues the next morning.)

Matthew 28:1 could be translated like this:

”And late in the evening of the sabbath, as it was getting dark toward the first day

of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the sepulchre.”

They came to the sepulchre before sunset on Saturday the weekly sabbath. This and Luke

23:54 are the only places where the word epiphōskō has been used in the NT.

John 20:1 & 2 (This happened before the sunrise on Easter Sunday morning.)

Mark 16:1 – 7 (This happened after the sunrise on Easter Sunday morning.)

For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God and our passover lamb died on the 14th of Nisan on

Wednesday of that week. Now we can start counting days before the passover and

researching what happened.

The 8th and 9th of Nisan

These days were the Thursday and Friday of the previous week. Thursday was 6 days before

the passover.

John 12:1 & 2

Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was,

which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead. 2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them

that sat at the table with him.

The passover refers here to the killing and preparation of the passover lamb which was the

last task of the preparation before the beginning of the feast.

11

John 11:55 – 57 (Jesus had raised Lazarus from the dead and this had received a

lot of attention.)

Verse 55 tells that they went to purify themselves. It refers to a week of purifying ceremonies

(Numbers 19:11 & 12) which they had to do in order to be ceremonially clean for the feast

of unleavened bread if they had touched, for example, a dead body (Numbers 9:6 – 14, 19:1

– 22).

John 12:1 – 3

When a very important guest came to a house he was anointed with oil. Priests and kings

were anointed. (Exodus 30:30 & 31, I Sam. 10:1 – 13 and 16:1 – 13.) The anointing symbolized the presence of God and it was a sign of God having sanctified and set apart the

one being anointed.

John 12:4 – 19

When a judge came riding on one animal he came for judgment (Judges 5:10, 10:3 & 4 and

12:13 & 14.

The first coming to Jerusalem happened on Friday the 9th of Nisan. The second coming

happened on Saturday the 10th of Nisan. The first coming was for judgment and the second coming was for blessing.

II Kings 9:13

Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the

top of the stairs, and blew with trumpets, saying, Jehu is king.

The palm leaves and branches indicated joy (Leviticus 23:40 and Joel 1:12).

The 10th of Nisan

I Cor. 2:6 – 16! The 10th of Nisan was the weekly sabbath.

Mark 11:12 – 19

The fig tree represents Israel. No fruit came from Israel as a nation during the time of grace because they denied God’s only-begotten Son, the greatest gift He ever had given to them.

Hosea 9:10

I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe (first fruit) in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baalpeor, and separated

themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.

Isaiah 28:4

And the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit (literally: like fig early) before the summer; which

when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up.

The passover lamb had to be chosen on the 10th of Nisan (Exodus 12:3). Matthew tells how

Israel without knowing it chose for himself the most perfect passover lamb of all ages.

Matthew 21:1 – 17

This was the second coming to Jerusalem of Jesus. He came riding on an ass and a colt the

foal of an ass.

II Kings 5:17

And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two

mules' burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt offering

nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto the LORD.

II Samuel 16:1 & 2

And when David was a little past the top of the hill, behold, Ziba the servant of

Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred

loaves of bread, and an hundred bunches of raisins, and an hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine. 2 And the king said unto Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The

asses be for the king's household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the

young men to eat; and the wine, that such as be faint in the wilderness may drink.

Page 14: yuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnmqwertyuiopas ...€¦ · God giveth thee: 6 But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover

13

The prophecy of Zechariah was fulfilled here:

Zechariah 9:9

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy

King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an

ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

Here is a summary of the events on the 10th of Nisan:

On the way to Jerusalem Jesus cursed a fig tree which would no more produce any fruit. Then

he came to Jerusalem with two animals which represented the blessing which he was bringing

to Israel. The people from the whole city came and received him with great joy. Without knowing it they chose him as their passover lamb from God once and for all. He cleansed the

Temple, healed the blind and the lame and taught the word of God. Once again the religious

leadership was sore displeased by the courage and the power of Jesus. Finally he went to

Bethany and stayed there overnight.

The 11th of Nisan

Mark 11:20 – 25 (Remember the fig tree in 11:13 & 14!)

Matthew 21:18 – 22 (A Fig tree was a common tree. It belonged to everybody)

After Jesus taught to his disciples how to believe God he began to discuss with the chief

priests and the elders. Read the following places later!

The story continues with the following events. Read these also later!

Matthew 24:1 – 26:2, Mark 13:1 – 14:1 and Luke 21:5 – 22:1

After all these things had happened it was already the evening of the 11th of Nisan. This day is generally called Palm Sunday. Then there were only two more days to the passover,

Monday and Tuesday the 12th and 13th of Nisan.

Matthew 26:1 & 2

And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples, 2 Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is

betrayed to be crucified.

Mark 14:1

After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the

chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him

to death.

The 12th of Nisan

Ephesians 1:15 – 20 and Colossians 2:1 – 3 (All riches of understanding.)

In the Gospel of Luke there is a general description of what Jesus did during these last days

before passover.

Luke 21:37 & 38

And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives. 38 And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.

Then in Matthew, Mark and Luke there is a parenthetical explanation which describes how

Jesus asked his disciples to prepare a place for them to have the passover meal. The 10th of Nisan was the day these preparations had to begin. The passover lamb should be chosen and

the unleavened bread and the bitter herbs should be prepared. However, the 10th of Nisan was

the weekly sabbath. Therefore, they had to do these things later i.e. earliest on the 11th of

Nisan.

Matthew 26:1 – 19, Mark 14:1 – 16 and Luke 22:1 – 13

artos N676/S740 – This was bread. It was regular leavened bread. This is what they ate

normally. (Matthew 26:26, Mark 14.22 and Luke 22:19)

azumos N91/S106 – This means unfermented, free from leaven (Thayer’s). It is used of the

bread they ate during the feast of unleavened bread. (Matthew 26:17, Mark 14:12 and Luke

22:7)

The word cup has often been used figuratively to express that someone takes part in what is in the cup.

Psalm 11:6

Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest:

this shall be the portion of their cup.

Isaiah 51:17

Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the LORD the

cup of his fury; thou hast drunken the dregs of the cup of trembling, and wrung

them out.

Jeremiah 25:15 – 18

For thus saith the LORD God of Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at

my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it. 16 And they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them. 17 Then took I the cup at the LORD's hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto

whom the LORD had sent me: 18 To wit, Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes

thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse; as it is this day;

In Matthew 26:39, Mark 14:36, Luke 22:42 and John 18:11 the cup represents the heavy

responsibility which Jesus had to carry. His responsibility was to take upon himself the

punishment for the sin of all people.

Morning trial

Matthew 27:1 & 2

When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took

counsel against Jesus to put him to death: 2 And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

Mark 15:1

And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders

and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

Mark 15:1 – 19

Judas ”hanged” himself

Acts 1:18 & 19

Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong,

he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

19 And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is

called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.

a field – chōrion N4876/S5564 – This means a farm, estate (Thayer’s). Aramaic Aceldama

is in Greek chōrion haimatos.

Matthew 27:7 & 8

And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers

in. 8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.

the field – agros N57/S68 – a field – The field of blood – agros haimatos.

Matthew 27:5

And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and

hanged himself.

hanged himself – apagchōmai N475/S519 – This comes from the prefix apo away from and

the verb anchomai to squeeze or to embrace – In classical literature apagchōmai means “to

strangle” or “to choke”. Here it is used figuratively and it means “to choke with grief”.

Judas felt very bad when he realized what he had done, but he did not kill himself yet. He did it later as we read in Acts.

(John 12:6 (thief), Luke 24:33 (11 disciples), John 20:19 – 29, Mark16:1 – 20)

What cross did Jesus bear?

Isaiah 53:3 – 5

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief:

and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him

not. 4 Surely he hath borne our griefs (diseases), and carried our sorrows (pains): yet

we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the

chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Matthew 8:16 & 17

When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with

devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: 17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself

took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

Matthew 10:38

And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

Mark 8:34

And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto

them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross,

and follow me.

Galatians 6:5

For every man shall bear his own burden.

Psalm 22

Psalm 22:1 – 31 (Read through first!)

Psalm 22:1 & 2

My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping

me, and from the words of my roaring? 2 O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and

am not silent.

Matthew 27:46

And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama

sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Mark 15:34

And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama

sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou

forsaken me?

We know that God was not going to forsake him.

Page 22: yuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnmqwertyuiopas ...€¦ · God giveth thee: 6 But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover

21

Matthew 26:52 – 54

Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that

take the sword shall perish with the sword. 53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me

more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

John 16:32 (Zechariah 13:7)

Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to

his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is

with me.

Why did Jesus say these words?

John 8:29

And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always

those things that please him.

Look at Isaiah 53:3 – 5 on the previous page!

Psalm 22:3 – 6

But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. 4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. 5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not

confounded. 6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

a worm – tōh-lāhg’, tōh-lēh-gah’, tōh-lah’-gath SH8438 – This word is used both about

the worm as well as the scarlet color they got out of the worm.

Exodus 25:3 & 4

And this is the offering which ye shall take of them; gold, and silver, and brass, 4 And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair,

Exodus 26:1 (31, 36 and 27:16 etc.)

Moreover thou shalt make the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twined linen, and

blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubims of cunning work shalt thou make

them.

Isaiah 52:14

As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man,

and his form more than the sons of men:

Psalm 22:7 & 8

All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the

head, saying, 8 He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he

delighted in him.

Page 23: yuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnmqwertyuiopas ...€¦ · God giveth thee: 6 But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover

22

Matthew 27:39 – 44

And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, 40 And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save

thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross. 41 Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, 42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now

come down from the cross, and we will believe him. 43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I

am the Son of God. 44 The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.

Mark 15:29 – 32

And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou

that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, 30 Save thyself, and come down from the cross. 31 Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes,

He saved others; himself he cannot save. 32 Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and

believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.

Luke 23:35 – 37

And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him,

saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. 36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, 37 And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.

Psalm 22:9 – 11

But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was

upon my mother's breasts. 10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly. 11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.

John 16:32

Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man

to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father

is with me.

Psalm 22:12 & 13 (The Roman soldiers)

Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round. 13 They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.

Psalm 22:14 & 15 (The 13th and 14th of Nisan)

I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax;

it is melted in the midst of my bowels. 15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and

thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

Psalm 22:16

For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they

pierced my hands and my feet.

Page 24: yuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnmqwertyuiopas ...€¦ · God giveth thee: 6 But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover

23

The dogs represent the gentiles. David prophesied concerning the crucifixion 900 years before the Romans had started to execute people by this method. Moses prophesied about it

even earlier.

Genesis 3:15

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Matthew 27:31 and Mark 15:20, Luke 23:33, John 19:18

And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his

own raiment on him, and led him away.

Psalm 22:17 & 18

I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. 18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

Matthew 27:35 and Mark 15:24, Luke 23:54

And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be

fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among

them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

John 19:23 & 24

Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made

four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without

seam, woven from the top throughout. 24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it,

whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted

my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things

therefore the soldiers did.

Psalm 22:19 – 22

But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me. 20 Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog. 21 Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the

unicorns. 22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I

praise thee.

Hebrews 2:10 – 12

For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through

sufferings. 11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which

cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, 12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church

will I sing praise unto thee.

Page 25: yuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnmqwertyuiopas ...€¦ · God giveth thee: 6 But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover

24

Psalm 22:23 – 30

Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel. 24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath

he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard. 25 My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before

them that fear him. 26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your

heart shall live for ever. 27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the

kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. 28 For the kingdom is the LORD's: and he is the governor among the nations. 29 All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the

dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul. 30 A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.

Here the LORD is Jehovah, God himself. God planned that Jesus Christ would also be Lord and King.

Ephesians 1:19 – 23

And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according

to the working of his mighty power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his

own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name

that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Philippians 2:5 – 11

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and

was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient

unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is

above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things

in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory

of God the Father.

Finally, Jesus Christ will give the kingdom to God and the Father.

I Corinthians 15:22 – 28

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are

Christ's at his coming.

Page 26: yuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnmqwertyuiopas ...€¦ · God giveth thee: 6 But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover

25

24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God,

even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under

him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

Psalm 22:31

They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be

born, that he hath done this.

John 19:30

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed

his head, and gave up the ghost.

In Aramaic, the words he hath done this in Psalm 22:31 are the same words as the words It

is finished in John 19:30.

So, Psalm 22 together with other scriptures from the Old Testament and the Gospels and the

Epistles prove without dispute that Jesus is Christ, the promised Messiah, the Lord, the King, the Savior and the Son of God.

We have already handled the events of the 15th, 16th and 17th of Nisan when we determined

the time Jesus died, was buried and raised from the dead. Therefore, we continue now with

the 18th of Nisan.

The 18th of Nisan and further

Proverbs 4:1 – 7

The first time Jesus showed himself alive was to Mary Magdalene and this happened early in

the morning when it was still dark.

Mark 16:9 – 11

Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to

Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils. 10 And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept. 11 And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her,

believed not.

John 20:1 – 31, Matthew 28:1 – 20, Mark 16:1 – 20, Luke 23:54 – 56, 24:1 – 53

Jesus did not allow Mary yet to touch him because he had to go first to God to “wave the

sheaf of the firstfruits” before Jehovah, because he was the firstfruits of the dead.

I Corinthians 15:20 – 23

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

Leviticus 23:5 – 11

Jesus Christ was to be the high priest to do this waving of the firstfruits.

Hebrews 8:1 & 2

Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high

priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; 2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord (Jehovah)

pitched, and not man.

In Leviticus 23:11 on “the morrow after sabbath”, which was the first day of the week, they

counted seven weeks and one day forward, altogether 50 days. That 50th day was Pentecost.

Leviticus 23:15 & 16

I Corinthians 15:1 – 10

At some time after his resurrection Jesus preached to the spirits in prison.

Page 28: yuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnmqwertyuiopas ...€¦ · God giveth thee: 6 But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover

27

I Peter 3:18 – 20

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in

the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls

were saved by water.

II Peter 2:4

For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and

delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

Jude 6

And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he

hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great

day.

Receiving the holy spirit in the book of Acts When we read these records, pay attention to the following things:

1. What did the believers do when they received the holy spirit? Did they speak in

tongues? Did they prophesy?

2. How much water was there to be baptized in? 3. In what element they were baptized?

4. Did the believers fall down slain by the spirit?

Acts 1:1 – 26, 2:1 – 47, 8:1 – 24, 9:1 – 20

I Corinthians 14:18 (Paul spoke in tongues a lot.)

Acts 10:1 – 48, 11:1 – 18, 18:1 – 5, 24 – 28 and 19:1 – 12

I Corinthians 1:10 – 17
