New Product Development Engineering Intern Summer 2015
- Designed numerous Prototype/Qualification test and pressure fixtures for an electrical feed through system to be used in thermal, electrical, and material compatibility testing.
- Redesigned and modeled components within the final assembly of the electrical feed through system for compliance with customer specifications and most optimum design.
- Presented Trade Study to all New Product Development Engineering department on optimization of manufacturing techniques, including metal additive manufacturing.
New Product Development Technical Writing Intern Summer 2014
- Generated various electrical test documents (e.g., Partial Discharge, IR, and impulse) and mechanical test documents (e.g., Flexural, tensile, and corrosion).
- Briefed department on the formulation and determination of the Weibull Distribution in material flexural strength testing for implementation into new product development.
- Assisted with the development of new products and testing procedures.
Project and Leadership Experience
Project Lead, “PULSAR Program” Entry into NASA RASC-AL Competition Ongoing
- Leading team of seven in designing full mission capability for a manned mission of over 300-days on the surface of the Mars Moon, Phobos, for the NASA RASC-AL Competition.
- Designing Orbital Mission Plan and Maneuvers to deliver a cargo and crew of four from Earth to Phobos and back, including transfer trajectories, orbits, and descent/ascent.
- Designing Crewed Vehicles capabilities and system, including crew capsule, deep-space habitat, and a lander/ascent vehicle for optimum design for extended mission plans.
Leader of Orbital Team, “Project LOCA” Entry into NASA Cube Quest Competition Ongoing
- Led a team of varying background in the determination of orbital parameters and dynamics for the launch of a CubeSat from the SLS for the NASA Cube Quest Competition.
- Developed a methodology for an efficient manner to transfer from an elliptical Earth orbit into a circular lunar orbit given customer-defined parameters and conditions.
- Planned mission involved entering a hyperbolic trajectory about the moon at the periapsis of a highly elliptic orbit around Earth before initiating a burn to circular orbit.
Designer and Coder, 3-Dimensional Prediction of Satellite Attitude and Dynamics Spring 2015
- Coded a MATLAB program to predict and present the dynamic motion of a customizable satellite design based on various applied perturbations and characteristic motion.
- Authored and presented a report on the theoretical basis and mathematic formulation.
Leader of Structural Analysis Team, Femap/NASTRAN Analysis of 20-part Structure Spring 2015
- Led team of peers in modeling and analyzing the structural integrity of a 20-part structure in CATIA and Femap/NASTRAN for Von Mises stress and displacement analysis.
- Presented extensive report on the analysis and results of the FEA program and application.
