New Zachary High School Head Football Coach David Brew-erton has been molding his team of players since taking over the team last spring. Over 165 sophomore, junior, and senior players came out for spring practice and 105 are cur-rently on the varsity team roster.

“This year our motto is All About the Z,” Brewerton said. The team has been undergoing grueling training to get stronger, faster and more hard-edged, even participat-ing in a Bear Bryant-style Junction Boys football camp in rural Missis-sippi to stress physicality, accord-ing to Brewerton.

The Broncos also have several new assistant coaches. Offensive Coordinator Kenny Langlois and Defensive Coordinator Steven Thomas came with Coach Brew-erton from his previous assignment at Livonia High School. Brew-

erton led Livonia High to the Class 3A title game last fall. “Our staff chemistry is really good. I believe this coaching unit is the best I have ever been a part of,” Brewerton added.

“I grew up competing against Zachary when I was in high school…there was a hard-nosed, blue collar mentality to the team back then…we are bringing that back,” Brewerton said. The former Catholic High football player and wrestler had a precedent-setting run at Livonia. In addition to last fall’s title game, he led the Wildcats to the 3A semifinals in 2012 and the 3A quarterfinals in 2011. He suc-ceeds Neil Weiner, who resigned in December to become football coach at The Dunham School.

Brewerton stresses that he wants to see his teams match the commitment to excellence of the

academic reputation of the Zach-ary Community School System. “I love the expectation of greatness, and the feeling of accomplishing greatness. Zachary has a won-derful reputation as an academic powerhouse. My job is to match that,” Brewerton said.

The Broncos return to the field with a stable of experienced start-ers. Junior quarterback Lindsey Scott will be leading the high-powered, pro-style offense this year. “We really didn’t change much on the offensive side of the ball. Where fans will see the big-gest changes will be on the de-fensive packages we have been teaching the plays and installing,” Brewerton said. “I have relied on strong running games every year I have been coaching football, and I am not changing now,” Brewerton added.

YOUR VOTE IS IMPORTANT

For more info call 1-800-262-0221 or visit demco.org

PURPOSE OF SPECIAL MEMBERSHIP VOTE The purpose of the special vote is to request authorization from the Dixie Electric Membership Corporation membership to amend and restate Dixie Electric Membership Corporation’s Articles of Incorporation. Dixie Electric Membership Corporation’s original Articles of Incorporation were filed in 1938. Since that time, Louisiana’s electric cooperative laws have changed to address today’s business needs and modern technology. Dixie Electric Membership Corporation needs to have its original Articles updated to conform to Louisiana’s current electric cooperative law to meet current business practices and technology. The primary changes will provide Dixie Electric Membership Corporation with perpetual corporate existence (as opposed to the 99-year current termination) and will allow the management and Board of Directors to operate consistent with the Louisiana Electric Cooperative Act and thereby address ever-changing operational and business needs. These changes will put Dixie Electric Membership Corporation in conformity with current Louisiana state law and modern business practice.

Bank of Zachary Launches New Website

Bank of Zachary’s newly rede-signed website is now live. The innovative site, www.bankofzach-ary.com, incorporates action-based navigation, providing visitors with an experience that simulates visit-ing a physical branch. This tech-nological initiative is intended to better accommodate customers by creating a more accessible website with improved online capabilities.

“We are thrilled to offer Bank of Zachary customers the option to bank the way they want to. In es-sence, our website is an interactive virtual branch that’s open 24/7. Our goal is to allow users to do just about everything that can be done in our branches, but online,” stated Preston L. Kennedy, President and CEO. “Visitors can easily navi-gate through the site and explore our accessible links dedicated to products, services and customer assistance.”

Customers can open an account, apply for a loan, chat with a repre-sentative and discover the wide va-riety of products and services that

Bank of Zachary offers. The site is designed to be visually appealing yet still user-friendly. It is also an informative resource for custom-ers and the community, featuring educational resources, easy-to-use financial calculators and con-venient customer service forums. In addition to the website, Bank of Zachary has also recently intro-duced enhanced account choices. Options are now simplified, so banking is easy and convenient.

In celebration of the launch, Bank of Zachary is offering a mortgage special from August 16th to September 30th. A prize drawing for an iPad or $500 will also be held during this time. Bank of Zachary encourages the com-munity to stop by their website or one of the branches to learn more and join in on the celebration.

Founded in 1904, Bank of Zachary is the oldest State char-tered bank in East Baton Rouge Parish serving residents, busi-nesses and communities. Bank of Zachary is locally owned and operated. Hometown banking is Bank of Zachary’s mission and specialty. The Bank of Zachary is a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. The FDIC Standard Maximum Deposit In-surance Amount (SMDIA) for deposits is $250,000 per deposi-tor, per insured financial institu-tion, for each account ownership category. The Bank is an Equal Opportunity Employer and Equal Housing Lender. For more infor-mation, visit www.bankofzachary.com or call (225) 654-2701.

Rocky and Donna McCartney of Central have been called as Church Educational System (CES) Missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They will serve for 23 months in the Russia-na-Donu Mission, working with the youth in the Volgograd area. They will join the 83,000 missionaries currently serving full-time missions throughout the world for the Church of Jesus Christ. Their service will begin September 1, 2014. The McCartneys are the parents of four children and nine grandchildren. “Thank you for your support and continued prayers.”
