    The packet control function (PCF)

    chooses activated users in the PDSN pool

    based on the round-robin algorithm. The PCF can detect the status of the

    PDSN and switch over the user activation

    paths in one to three seconds by running

    ICMP ping and Trace route.

    In the PDSN pool, the PDSNs works in

    active/standby or load-sharing mode.

    In the PDSN pool, the static and dynamic

    routing protocols are used between the

    PDSN and external routers to ensure the

    connectivity of the user downstream link.

    In the PDSN pool, the PDSNs can

    provide the same service features.
