FrankHaving inherited the architecture gene from his father, Frank also acquired additional knowledge in civil engineering and legal sciences during his early semesters. After his traffic accident, however he knew that barrier-free building would become the focal point of his work.

At the pinnacle of success

Anyone who takes a closer look at Frank‘s day-to-day work has to ask themselves how the young architect can handle so many demands. He can. That much is certain. The “completely normal craziness” of the architect‘s office, his expert appraisal work and seminar activ-ities is what drives him to perform at his best. The fact that Frank has been in a wheelchair since his accident scarcely seems to matter here . . . except when he is entrusted with drafting a barrier-free building project and is able to use his own wealth of experience to inform the design. “Even if we in Germany are still far behind countries like Spain and France,” says Frank, “the issue of accessibility is becoming increasingly important in our country‘s public sector – and that‘s how it should be.”

The architect knows what he‘s talking about, having just returned from a holiday in France where he was able to get the latest on construction for people with disabilities in southern Europe. His Zenit wheelchair went along for the ride, of course, which Frank says “works best when you notice it least.”

Back home in Germany‘s Rhine region, his desk overflows with ongoing pro-jects every time he‘s away, as well as new enquiries ranging from plans for detached houses to multi-family dwell-ings and barrier-free public buildings. Besides this, there are also numerous enquiries for expert assessments. In parallel, Frank is a sought after speaker for various seminar providers. Just his completely normal craziness, really.

The body‘s centre of gravity is top priorityThe Zenit is designed in such a way that you can make the fine adjustment of the wheelbase 1.2 cm more active or passive by rotating the rear wheel adapter. This benefits both experienced users, who are already familiar with adjusting their centre of gravity, as well as first-time users.

Continuous adjustment through the frame allows for optional fine-tuning. With our CLT version, the permanently welded drive adapter saves an additional 8.9 kilogrammes of the Zenit‘s total weight.

Foldable and angle-adjust- able – the Zenit‘s backAn adjustment range of 20° (adjustable in 5 stages) allows for indi-vidual adaptation of the back support to your specific needs. You and your technician will decide which angle is right for you. Folding down the back section when folding your Zenit results in an incredibly small package size.

Precise adjustment of the front wheelsThe new front wheel adapter allows the front wheels to be set precisely and incrementally and thereby prevents any imbalances between the wheels.

Aesthetic design: materials and coloursYou consider your wheelchair‘s appealing design important? We definitely share your opinion so we decided to leave the choice of materials and colors up to you. The Zenit wheelchair for active use is available in elegant carbon as well as in alu-minum. The latter version is available in all Ottobock colours including scratchproof anodised colours.

That‘s why we‘ve reduced the steps it takes to unfold your Zenit to a minimum. All it takes is a quick tap and you can get in and go. Your next appoint-ment is due before you even know it? We have considered that as well when making the Zenit to fold into a very small packing size for easy transportation.
