Prepare yourself: Who profits from IC, what are the reasons and are we prepared ?

What are the aims of the IC partners (are often different but must fit together)?, how to reach certain aims best ?, what are the determinants of success and failure ?

Differences are common, are good and has to be accepted ( “Overcoming differences wherever possible, concentrating on what brings us together” )

Learning by doing, IC should be considered to be a process rather than a single shot technique

Who is driving the IC (which individual ?! , it is not the theory that works, it is the interaction

between individuals ), regular and efficient exchange of staff and coworkers is mandatory (“the more the better”), Institutionalization

Starting the process is often easy, keeping it alive and successful is the true challenge. A broad basis may overcome transient problems

Benefit should be continously reevaluated and financing must be clarified
