I was asked to create 3 Digital paintings representing a city taken from one of Italo Calvino’s books, Invisible Cities. The book has a variety of cities to choose from with each city having a different setting and feel about it. For my designs I chose the city of Zirma. This city was described as a place were the mad revelled in there skyscrapers and everywhere was full of repetition and madness. “in every skyscraper there is someone going mad”, “Memory is redundant: it repeats signs so that the city can begin to exist.”

Designing the Exterior For the Design of my exterior shot, I looked into City sea views such as manhattan. !I wanted my city to have an urban look and so I felt manhattan was a good city to study, especially because it has that long sea view that is very famous.

Designing the InteriorFor the design of my

interior shot, I looked into asylum corridor scenes.

seeing how the city it meant to be mad, I felt it was appropriate to make

the residence feel like they are trapped and in a mad person environment.

Designing the Low exteriorFor my Low Exterior shot I

looked into the city of Amsterdam. I looked into this city for the building structure, I felt that seeing how all the

building are of a tall, thin design I felt it gave a sense of

entrapment, making someone feel that there stuck in a small place without anywhere to go.
