Membership Retention

To maximize membership numbers, clubs should be working to ensure that they retain members as well as gaining new members.

Implementing retention strategies generally requires fewer resources than recruiting new members.

Membership Growth – Membership Retention

Activity:

• What are you currently doing to retain current members and keep them enthused about Zonta?

• How do we keep the club interesting?

Membership Growth – Membership Retention

Retaining Members

• Club committee responsible for membership– Membership strategy– Retention / recruitment

• Mentoring new members• Engaging new members

Membership Growth – Membership Retention

Membership – recruiting new members

With membership of Zonta being by invitation, there is a need for clubs to think strategically to secure new members by approaching people who will be interested in the goals of Zonta, informing them about Zonta and inviting them to join.

Membership Growth – New Members

Activity:

What are you currently doing to attract new members?

Membership Growth – New Members

Attracting new membersWhat does a new member see in Zonta?

– The missionThe international projectsThe local projects

– A network– A broader horizon; Knowledge– Friendship/companionship

A little bit of everything !

Membership Growth – New Members

Educate potential members• Tell them about:

• Zonta• Zonta´s mission• The international projects• Local projects

• Tell the truth:• Zonta costs• Zonta takes time

• And, Zonta is rewarding!

YOU ! Use each other as resource

So, when asked about Zontawhat do you say?

Remember, it is our members that are responsible for growing our

membership!

The club, with its members, is the fundamental core of Zonta International

We, the members, have an obligation to support, nurture and promote our clubs so they thrive.

You have to bring in the new members, they are not necessarily going to come knocking at our door.

• It is NOT the other members…because if everyone thinks it is someone else’s responsibility, no one will be responsible.

• It is NOT the strategies, manuals, committees, boards etc…..
