BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL NOTES: The 25th Infantry Division wascreated from the Hawaiian Division ofthe United States Army, Its history includesparticipation in World War II, the occupation of Japan, the Korean War, the VietnamWar, the Gulf War and the "Uphold Democracy" deployment in Haiti. The Division isoften referred to as "Tropic Lightning."
SUMMARY OF SUBJECT AND MATERIALS: The 25th Infantry DivisionAssociation of the United States Army has donated materials chiefly concerning theVietnam War, but also from World War II, the Korean War, and more recent activities ofthe division. This particular donation contains a large collection ofWWII memorabiliafrom the Division's deployment to Korea and the Philippines. A large portion of thissub-collection includes photographs, newspapers, and personal letters.
