    1 Basic Services

    1.1 Access Servi ce

    Test purpose: To verify t he function of t erminal accessing the netw ork.

    Preparations:

    1. Prepare a WiMAX terminal.

    2. Prepare the WiMAX terminal dial-up software.

    Preconditions:

    1. The system is working fine without fault-reporting alarms.

    2. The AAA is configured with the BE user and the DL/UL rate is 2.4Mbps/0.5Mbps.

    Test procedure: Expect ed result :

    1. Select a point with CINR>25dB within the coverage

    for the test.

    2. Confirm the correct configuratio of the WiMAX

    terminal.

    3. Use the dial-up software to access the network. The terminal can acquire the correct IP address.Record the IP address with reference to the addresspool configured for AGW.

    Remarks:

    1. In the restart process after a power problem, many restored alarms will appear in Alarm Management

    of OMC. This is normal.

    2. The access and release tests should be performed on all sectors.

    1.2 FTP-based Uploading and Dow nloading

    Test pu rpose: To verif y t he systems FTP service

    Preparations:

    1. Prepare a WiMAX terminal.

    2. Prepare the WiMAX terminal dial-up software.

    3. Prepare the FTP server and client software.

    4. Prepare the DU Meter software.

    5. Prepare a 400 M and a 200M file.

    Preconditions:

    1. The system is working fine without fault-reporting alarms.

    2. The AAA is configured with the BE user and the DL/UL rate is 2.4Mbps/0.5Mbps.

    Test procedure: Expect ed result :

    1. Select a point with CINR>25dB within the coverage

    for the test.

    2. Use the dial-up software to access the network. The terminal accesses the network and acquires theIP address.

    3. Download a 400M file from the FTP server and

    keep the process for two minutes. Use the terminal

    software to record the CINR and RSSI and use the

    DU Meter to record the average rate.

    The file can be downloaded at a stable rate of2.4Mbps.

    4. Upload a 200M file and keep the process for two

    minutes. Use the terminal software to record the

    CINR and RSSI and use the DU Meter to record the

    average rate.

    The file can be uploaded to the FTP server at a stablerate of 0.5Mbps.

    Test pur pose: To verify the systems w ebpage browsing service

    Preparations:

    1. Prepare a WiMAX terminal.

    2. Prepare the WiMAX terminal dial-up software.

    3. Make the system able to support the webpage browsing service.

    Preconditions:

    1. The system is working fine without fault-reporting alarms.2. The AAA is configured with the BE user and the DL/UL rate is 2.4Mbps/0.5Mbps.

    3. The network bandwidth for external connection is no less than 5M.

    Test procedure: Expect ed result :

    1. Select a point with CINR>25dB within the coverage

    for the test.

    2. Use the dial-up software to access the network. The terminal accesses the network and acquires theIP address.

    3. Start IE to browse webpages and pay attention tothe speed of browsing.

    Webpages can be browsed smoothly.

    1. Prepare a WiMAX terminal.

    2. Prepare the WiMAX terminal dial-up software.

    2. The AAA is configured with the RTPS user and the DL/UL rate is 2.4Mbps/0.5Mbps.

    3. The network bandwidth for external connection is no less than 5M.

    Test procedure: Expect ed result :

    for the test.

    2. Use the dial-up software to access the network. The terminal accesses the network and acquires theIP address.

    3. Log on to www.youtube.com and watch a video

    online. Pay attention to the quality of the online

    video.

    The video can be played normally without delays ormosaic problem.

    Preparations:

    1. Prepare a WiMAX terminal.

    2. Prepare the WiMAX terminal dial-up software.

    3. Prepare a headphone.

    4. Prepare the SIP server /VoIP client software.

    5. Prepare the Skype software.

    Preconditions:

    1. The system is working fine without fault-reporting alarms.

    2. The AAA is configured with the ERTPS user and the DL/UL rate is 200Kbps/200Kbps.

    3. The network bandwidth for connection with the external network is no less than 5M.

    Test procedure: Expect ed result :

    1. Select a point with CINR>25dB within the coverage

    for the test.

    2. Use the dial-up software to access the network. The terminal accesses the network and acquires theIP address.

    3. Use the VoIP software to initiate a call and pay

    attention to the voice quality.

    The voice is clear without interruption or echo.

    Remarks:

    The operator should provide the SIP server /VoIP client software.

    2 Basic Funct ions2.1 Dow nlink AMC

    Test pur pose: To verif y t he systems DL AMC fun ction

    Preparations:

    1. Prepare a WiMAX terminal.

    2. Prepare the WiMAX terminal dial-up software.

    3. Prepare the FTP server and client software.

    4. Prepare the DU Meter software.

    5. Prepare a vehicle to help with the test.

    Preconditions:

    1. The system is working fine without fault-reporting alarms.

    2. The AAA is configured with the BE user and the DL/UL rate is 30Mbps/5Mbps.

    3. The downlink modulation encoding mode is configured as QPSK 1/2 CTC, 16QAM1/2 CTC, 64QAM 1/2

    CTC.

    Test procedure: Expect ed result :

    1. Select test spots within the coverage. The spots

    are with strong and weak signals in sequence so that

    the access and exit thresholds satisfying allconfigured modulation encoding modes are available.

    2. The terminal accesses the network from the test

    vehicle, which then moves from a spot with stronger

    signals to one with weaker signals.

    The terminal connects to network successfully, withthe highest order of modulation encoding mode(64QAM1/2 CTC).

    3. Download a 400M file from the FTP server and

    keep the process for two minutes. Use the terminal

    software to record the CINR and RSSI and use the

    DU Meter to record the average rate. The test should

    be kept for no shorter than one minute at all test

    spots.

    The terminal uses different modulation encodingmodes at different test spots. The rate of FTPdownloading is stable.

    Remarks:

    The operator should provide the SIP server /VoIP client software.

    2.2 Uplink AMC

    Test pur pose: To verify t he systems UL AMC fun ctionPreparations:

    1. Prepare a WiMAX terminal.

    2. Prepare the WiMAX terminal dial-up software.

    3. Prepare the FTP server and client software.

    4. Prepare the DU Meter software.

    5. Prepare a vehicle to help with the test.

    Preconditions:

    1. The system is working fine without fault-reporting alarms.

    2. The AAA is configured with the BE user and the DL/UL rate is 30Mbps/5Mbps.

    3. The downlink modulation encoding mode is configured as QPSK 1/2 CTC, 16QAM1/2 CTC.

    Test procedure: Expect ed result :

    1. Select test spots within the coverage. The spots

    2.3 I ntra-si te HO

    Test purpose: To verify th e inter-sector HO function w ithi n a BTS

    Preparations:

    1. Prepare a WiMAX terminal.

    2. Prepare the WiMAX terminal dial-up software.

    3. Prepare the FTP server and client software.

    4. Prepare the DU Meter software.

    5. Prepare a vehicle to help with the test.

    Preconditions:

    1. The system is working fine without fault-reporting alarms.

    2. The AAA is configured with the BE user and the DL/UL rate is 2.4Mbps/0.5Mbps.

    3. The different sectors of a BTS site are configured as the neighbor cell of each other.

    Test procedure: Expect ed result :

    1. Select a test spot within the coverage, where the

    signal is the strongest of sector 1.

    2. Use the dial-up software to access the network. The terminal accesses the network and acquires theIP address.

    3. Start the FTP software to perform FTPdownloading.

    Connection is made to the FTP Server successfullyand the downloading is started successfully.

    4. Start the DU Meter software. The DU Meter shows stable downloading rate withlittle fluctuation.

    5. In OMC server, start signaling trace on the test

    termnal to capture the HO signaling.

    When a HO happens, the signaling trace can capturethe HO signaling.

    6. Move the vehicle from sector 1 to sector 2 at a

    speed of 60km/h.

    After successful HO, the serving sector is changed tosector 2 and FTP downloading is stable. The HOsignaling in Signaling Trace is saved.

    2.4 I nter-si te HO

    Test purpose: To verify the in ter-sector HO function betw een different BTSPreparations:

    1. Prepare a WiMAX terminal.

    2. Prepare the WiMAX terminal dial-up software.

    3. Prepare the FTP server and client software.

    4. Prepare the DU Meter software.

    5. Prepare a vehicle to help with the test.

    Preconditions:

    1. The system is working fine without fault-reporting alarms.

    2. The AAA is configured with the BE user and the DL/UL rate is 2.4Mbps/0.5Mbps.

    3. The different sectors of a BTS site are configured as the neighbor cell of each other.

    Test procedure: Expect ed result :

    1. Select a test spot within the coverage, where the

    signal is the strongest of BTS 1.

    2. Use the dial-up software to access the network. The terminal accesses the network and acquires theIP address.

    3. Start the FTP software to perform FTP

    downloading.

    Connection is made to the FTP Server successfullyand the downloading is started successfully.

    4. Start the DU Meter software.

    The DU Meter shows stable downloading rate with

    little fluctuation.

    5. In OMC server, start signaling trace on the test

    termnal to capture the HO signaling.

    When a HO happens, the signaling trace can capturethe HO signaling.

    6. Move the vehicle from BTS 1 to BTS 2 at a speed

    of 60km/h.

    After successful HO, the serving sector is changed toBTS 2 and FTP downloading is stable. The HOsignaling in Signaling Trace is saved.

    2.5 MIMO-A

    Test purpose: To verify t he systems MI MO-A functionPreparations:

    1. Prepare a WiMAX terminal.

    2. Prepare the WiMAX terminal dial-up software.

    3. Prepare the FTP server and client software.

    4. Prepare the DU Meter software.

    Preconditions:

    1. The system is working fine without fault-reporting alarms.

    2. The AAA is configured with the BE user and the DL/UL rate is 2.4Mbps/0.5Mbps.

    Test procedure: Expect ed result :

    1. In Configuration Management of OMC, distable

    MIMO-A and synchronize data.

    2. Use the dial-up software to access the network. The terminal accesses the network and acquires theIP address.

    3. Try to ping the server.

    For example: ping (FTP server IP) n 200 l 5000.

    4. Select where the packet loss rate is higher than

    30% as the test point.

    Record the packet loss rate.

    5. In Configuration Management of OMC, enable

    MIMO-A and synchronize data.

    6. At the test point, repeat the operation at Step 3

    and record the packet loss rate.

    The packet loss rate is greatly decreased.

    2.6 MIMO-B

    Test purp ose: To verify t he system s MIMO-B functionPreparations:

    1. Prepare a WiMAX terminal.

    2. Prepare the WiMAX terminal dial-up software.

    3. Prepare the FTP server and client software.

    4. Prepare the DU Meter software.

    Preconditions:

    1. The system is working fine without fault-reporting alarms.

    2. The AAA is configured with the BE user and the DL/UL rate is 30Mbps/5Mbps.

    Test procedure: Expect ed result :

    1. In Configuration Management of OMC, distable

    MIMO-B and synchronize data.

    2. Select a point with CINR>25dB within the coverage

    for the test.

    3. Use the dial-up software to access the network. The terminal accesses the network and acquires theIP address.

    4. Make the DL modulation encoding mode as

    16QAM1/2 forcibly.5. Download a 400M file from the FTP server and

    keep the process for two minutes. Use the terminal

    software to record the CINR and RSSI and use the

    DU Meter to record the average rate.

    The downloading rate is about 7mbps.

    6. In Configuration Management of OMC, enable

    MIMO-B and synchronize data.

    After the MIMO-B function is enabled, thedownloading rate is twice as much, if only theterminal supports high speed downloading.

    7. Make the DL modulation encoding mode as

    64QAM1/2 forcibly.

    8. Repeat Steps 1~5.

    2.7 Dynamic HO of MI MO-A & MI MO-B

    Test purpose: To verify the systems dynamic HO function of MI MO-A & MI MO-BPreparations:

    1. Prepare a WiMAX terminal.

    2. Prepare the WiMAX terminal dial-up software.

    3. Prepare the FTP server and client software.

    4. Prepare the DU Meter software.

    Preconditions:

    1. The system is working fine without fault-reporting alarms.

    2. The AAA is configured with the BE user and the DL/UL rate is 30Mbps/5Mbps.

    Test procedure: Expect ed result :

    1. Select a point with CINR>25dB within the coverage

    for the test.

    2. Use the dial-up software to access the network. The terminal accesses the network and acquires theIP address.

    3. Disable AMC. Make the modulation encoding mode

    as QPSK1/2 forcibly.

    4. Start FTP downloading. The terminal is working in the MIMO-B status.

    5. Shelter the terminal to lower the CINR until thedynamic HO threshold is reached.

    The terminal switches to work in the MIMO-A status

    and the downloading speed is 50% as fast, but theFTP downloading is ongoing without stop. At thesame time, make sure that the modulation encodingmode remains unchanged.

    6. Remove the shelter so that the terminals signal

    CINR is restored.

    The terminal switches back to work in the MIMO-Bstatus, the downloading speed is twice as fast and themodulation encoding mode remains unchanged.

    2.8 Autom ati c Recovery

    Test purpose: To verify t he systems autom atic repetit ion funct ionPreparations:

    1. Prepare a WiMAX terminal.

    2. Prepare the WiMAX terminal dial-up software.

    3. Prepare the FTP server and client software.

    4. Prepare the DU Meter software.

    5. Prepare a 400M and a 200M file.

    Preconditions:

    1. The system is working fine without fault-reporting alarms.

    2. The AAA is configured with the BE user and the DL/UL rate is 30Mbps/5Mbps.

    Test procedure: Expect ed result :

    1. Select a spot where the CINR is about 12dB within

    the coverage as the test spot.

    2. Use the dial-up software to access the network. The terminal accesses the network and acquires theIP address.

    3. Download a 400M file from the FTP server and

    keep the process for two minutes. Use the terminal

    software to record the CINR and RSSI and use the

    DU Meter to record the average rate.

    The FTP downloading is started successfully at anaverage rate of 3.7mbps. The downlink modulationencoding mode is QPSK 1/2.

    4. Run NPT in OMC and view the parameter values of

    UL repetition and DL repetition.

    The parameter value is 0.

    5. Move the terminal to a place far from the BTS until

    the DL downloading rate is below 3.7mbps and the

    rate is unstable.

    6. Run NPT in OMC and view the parameter values of

    UL repetition and DL repetition.

    The parameter value is no longer 0, but 2, 4 or 6instead.

    3 QoS Test

    3.1 UGS Servi ce

    Test pur pose: To verif y t he fun ction an d perfor mance of QoS UGS

    Preparations:

    1. Prepare a WiMAX terminal.

    2. Prepare the WiMAX terminal dial-up software.

    3. Prepare the FTP server and client software.

    4. Prepare the DU Meter software.

    Preconditions:

    1. The system is working fine without fault-reporting alarms.

    2. The AAA is configured with the UGS user and the DL/UL rate is 2.4Mbps/0.5Mbps.

    Test procedure: Expect ed result :

    1. Select a point with CINR>25dB within the coverage

    for the test.

    2. Use the dial-up software to access the network. The terminal accesses the network and acquires theIP address.

    3. Download a 400M file from the FTP server and

    keep the process for two minutes. Use the terminalsoftware to record the CINR and RSSI and use the

    DU Meter to record the average rate.

    The file can be downloaded at a stable rate of2.4Mbps.

    4. Upload a 200M file and keep the process for two

    minutes. Use the terminal software to record the

    CINR and RSSI and use the DU Meter to record the

    average rate.

    The file can be downloaded at a stable rate of0.5Mbps.

    5. To Ping the packet:

    Ping server IP address n 200. Repeat the

    operation for 1~3 times and record the average delay

    at each attempt.

    95% of the operations have a delay less than 80ms.

    3.2 ERTVR Service

    1. Prepare a WiMAX terminal.

    2. Prepare the WiMAX terminal dial-up software.

    3. Prepare the FTP server and client software.

    4. Prepare the DU Meter software.

    Preconditions:

    1. The system is working fine without fault-reporting alarms.

    2. The AAA is configured with the ERTVR user and the DL/UL rate is 2.4Mbps/0.5Mbps.

    Test procedure: Expect ed result :

    1. Select a point with CINR>25dB within the coverage

    for the test.

    2. Use the dial-up software to access the network. The terminal accesses the network and acquires theIP address.

    3. Download a 400M file from the FTP server and
