Networking and VLANs
2
Ver. 09-04-15
Objectives
Upon completion of this module students will know the following:
• Understand and use services features for networking
• Create and configure services that support advanced VLAN topology

Ver. 09-04-15
The BreezeMAX provides high flexibility regarding VLANs
Packets can be tagged and untagged within the system

Service Profile parameters VPL ID
Available values 0 to 4094 or null (empty string) for No VPL ID
A value of 4095 is displayed for No VPL ID
Service profiles can share the same VPL number but:
• All Must have the same Forwarding rule

Service Profile parameters VLAN Transparency Mode
Used for VLAN consistency
VLAN Transparency Mode values (ON/OFF)
• Enabled (ON)
• The VLAN ID on both sides of the BS ( wireless , backbone) is the same
• The VPL ID parameter is not applicable
• Forwarding rule is set automatically as “ @@Transparent@@”
• Only one service on each SU (If there are several services within the same SU) can be set with VLAN Transparency Mode = ON
Note: When using VLAN transparency mode ON, verify that the VLAN tags in the list of the transparent service are different than any VPL ID of other services.

Access VLAN = 10
It is also mandatory to set Transparent Mode to ON
Enables to set that the SU tags any untagged frames arrives from the Ethernet port and vice versa
When Access VLAN is set with a VLAN ID, the feature is set to ON

VLAN Classification Mode
In case R1 doesn't support any priority marking
• Services defined with transparent mode set ON
• Each service contains ONLY one VLAN ID
• VLAN Classification is set to ON
In the downlink direction the BS classifies the service by the VLAN ID instead of the priority tag
For using more than one VLANS with one MAC address

16VLAN Tagging
The following slides explains the way a frame is tagged (VLAN tag) in three points of the system
• SU network port
• SU wireless port (Uplink direction) / BS Wireless port (Downlink direction)
• BS Network port
