RECYCLING IN MAPLETON
The Mapleton Bowls Club is collecting bottles and cans with the refunds going to sponsor an event at the Club. There is a convenient collection point which is a wheelie bin placed at the foot of the entry stairs. This bin can be distinguished from others as it has a convenient round hole in its roof where you can pop-in the recycle items. QLD container refund scheme in the school car park. All proceeds go to the Mapleton State School P&C. All your donations would be gratefully received and will go towards resources for our school and students. Mapleton Men’s Shed is also a receiving depot for recycling cans and bottles. These may be left in the sulo bins in front of the storage shed in Mapleton Forest Drive. LIGHT the LIGHTS CATERING OPPORTUNITY
MADCA is again hosting Light the Lights at the Lilyponds Park on Friday 6 December. Food will be on sale from 5 pm with Christmas Carols starting at 6 pm. Community organisations are invited to submit a proposal to MADCA to cater for the event. MADCA understands that there are a number of community, not for profit organisations interested in catering for this event. In the interests of equality, MADCA opens the catering opportunity to community organisations in the Mapleton area. Those organisations submitting a suitable proposal will be entered into a draw to select the successful bid.
Proposal should indicate the following:
• a brief menu of what will be provided for sale (including gluten free option and vegetation options). Soft drinks and juice/water will be allowed for sale,
• an assurance that your organisation has sufficient staff to conduct the catering. (2018 it was estimated that around 400 people attended, the number of attendees varies depending on a variety of factors), and
• an assurance that your organisation has public liability insurance up to $20M that covers this activity (i.e. offsite activities).
There is no site fee. All profits to be retained by your organisation. The catering area is adjacent to the playground and two electric barbecues. Your organisation will be required to provide to following:
• a marquee or similar in case of inclement weather,
• serving tables and extra barbecues will need to be brought,
• gloves, napkins and other hygiene strategies to ensure that food is served hygienically,
• battery powered lighting (no generators are permitted by Council). Some 10 amp power may be available, and
• the site set up must be ready for a 5pm start. Site must be left in the same condition as at the start (rubbish removed, marquees disassembled, etc) by 9pm.
Please note that if the weather is inclement, a decision may be made at 4.00pm to cancel the event. Forward proposals to MADCA by 5.00pm on Friday 20 September to [email protected] All proposals will be considered and acceptable ones will be included in a draw. The successful proposal will be announced on Tuesday 24 September.
