Wheat, 479 acres, 9 ,181 bushels; buckwheat, 21acres,28-5 bushels; corn, 764 acres, 34,524 b ushels ; oats, 8X8acres, 14,284 bushels; bailey, 9 acres, 255 bushe ls ;meadow, 696 acres, 1,201 tons of hay ; clover, 50 acres,145 tons, and 39 bushels seed ; potatoes, 51 acres, 4,885bushels; butter, 14,700 pound*; cheese, 844 p o u n d s ;sorghum, 625 gallons ; grapes, 8 acres, 4,060 poun ds, 84gallons w i n e ; apples, 8,294 bushel* ; peaches, 419 bushels; acres of pasture land, 1,578; wool, 2,674 p o u n d s ;uncultivated land, 4,039 acres. There is but l i t t le wasteland in th is township, and t aken , all in all, it rank*amongst the first in the county in the fertility of its soil,as well the energy, enterprise, and industry of its people.
S A L E M T O W K S H I P was organized a* a p a r t of the territory of Sandusky county in 1889, one year before theformation of O t tawa coun ty . It contain* an area of18,224 acres, being the fourth township in size in thecounty. The total valuation of land in 1872 was*296,-754. and of the chattel property , 970,458.
There was levied upon this property for the same yeara total tax for all purposes amounting to but $9,177 68 ;and the total indebtedness of the township was f
