Great Things to Do During Spring
Great tips for things to do!
There are so many wonderful and fun ways to enjoy the outdoors with your family and spring is one of the best times to get started!
Bi rd wa t c h in g - Educational and fun. Doesn't take a lot of money. A pair of binoculars and a bird guide are helpful but not necessary.
Picnic - Picnics are great fun and very re-laxing. Go to the park, the lake, hike into the woods, etc. Great way to spend a family day.
Fishing - Kids love fish-ing! Pack a lunch, drive down to the lake or river and have a day of fishing.
Nature Walks - Get out your backpacks and get on the trails. Teach your children about nature and the importance of treat-ing it with respect. Watch for wildlife, birds and in-teresting plants, trees and other wonders of nature. There are so many!
Boat Rides - Get out the row boat or canoe and take a relaxing ride with the family. Always make sure life vests are worn and stowed on the vessel.
The world is a beautiful and wondrous place. You can relive this won-der every time you do something with your children. This is a great gift to give your children as well. So get outside and be amazed at the world and everything in it!

In an effort to better protect our waterways and keep them beautiful, W.O.R.D. would like to remind everyone about the new ordinance that took effect January 1, 2009, regarding “No Open Plastic Containers of 5 ounces or Less on
the waterways.”
Posters are displayed at all Outfitter locations, including several convenience stores and liquor stores around the
area.
There is up to a $500.00 fine for anyone who
possesses these containers. More information can be found
at www.wordcc.com.
For further inquiries regarding this and/or other issues, please call the W.O.R.D. Office at

W.O.R.D. sponsored the 15th Annual
KIDFISH Event on February 22, 2009.
This year the event took place at KL
Ranch Camp off of River Road for
deeper waters and plenty of riverbank
to fish from.
We can’t say it enough, but we are so
thankful to all our volunteers who came
out to assist with the many functions to
help make this a great success.
There were about 350 registered kids
that came with their families to enjoy a
beautiful day out by the river hoping to
catch the prize winning fish.
There are many photos
posted at our Website, just
go to www.wordcc.com and
click on the link displayed
on the main page.
We love to see children
from all over coming to this
event and hope to draw
more people in for next
year’s event. We provided
free hot dogs and water, trophies for
the first 400 registered children,
fishing poles, and tackle.
G.B.R.A., ACE Hardware, and Academy
Sporting Goods donated
fishing poles and tackle;
Ben E. Keith donated hot
dogs and water; H.E.B
supplied hot dog buns;
IESI provided a dumpster,
and High Sierra provided
portable toilets.
Our deepest gratitude
goes out to our community
who support such a great event for kids.
Thank you so much!
