Each area of concern needs two interventions
If a student is struggling in reading and needs a PEP, you must have two interventions for reading.
If a student is struggling in math and needs a PEP, you must have two interventions for math.
If a student is struggling in writing and needs a PEP, you must have two interventions for writing.
If a student is struggling with behavior and needs a PEP, you must have two interventions for behavior.
Each intervention should include:
*The instructional action
*Setting
*The frequency
*The area / skill you are addressing.
*Make your intervention as specific a possible.
Examples:
MathStudent will use math manipulatives in a small-group setting three days a week to build basic math skills.
Student will use math flashcards in a one-on-one setting five days a week to improve his/her knowledge of basic math facts.
WritingStudent will have daily use of a writing “Think Sheet” to improve writing focus.
Student will participate in “freewriting” at least four days a week to focus on writing fluency.
ReadingStudent will participate in Six-Minute Solutions with a peer partner three days a week to improve fluency skills.
Student will participate in Words Their Way in a small group setting four days a week to address phonics and decoding skills.
BehaviorStudent will use a behavior contract to improve his/her ability to pay attention and complete work.
Student will utilize Velcro placed under his/her desk as a calming technique to focus his/her
attention.
