Background and methodology
§ This PowerPoint report presents summary findings from the 2013 Sutton Residents’ Survey for the Sutton South, Cheam & Belmont Local Committee Area. The survey was conducted by independent researchers Ipsos MORI on behalf of Sutton Council.
§ The purpose of the survey is to provide robust measures of residents’ perceptions of where they live, Council services, communication with the Council and community engagement.
§ The survey was carried out in-home using Computer Assisted Personal

§ The survey was carried out in-home using Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) with a representative sample of 1,031 residents across the Borough aged 16+, between 11 October and 17 November 2013.
§ The results for Sutton South, Cheam & Belmont are based on 185 interviews with residents living in the LCA. This relatively low base size means results presented in this report should be treated with a degree of caution.
§ A detailed breakdown of results for all questions, including demographic and attitudinal crossbreaks, is provided via the main report, full data tables and topline documents (available separately).

Conclusions and looking ahead
§ Perceptions of residents in the Sutton South, Cheam & Belmont LCA are in line with the wider Borough across most measures, and in a number of cases are better.
§ Most residents in the LCA are satisfied with their local area (90%).
§ In addition to this, residents are more likely to feel safe in the local area, particularly after dark.
§ Environmental issues are less salient in the LCA than they are in other parts of the Borough, although there appear to be some concerns relating to parking and speeding traffic which the Council may want to look at.

§ Residents in Sutton South, Cheam & Belmont are broadly satisfied with the Council and believe the Council provides value for money.
§ Residents here seem to feel better informed and engaged with the Council compared to all other LCAs: and to agree that they can influence Council-run services in their local area.
§ Those in Sutton South, Cheam & Belmont are less likely to use sports facilities. However, residents are more likely than others in the Borough to describe their present fitness levels as fit or very fit, and reported exercise levels are in line with the wider Borough.
