ESSAYYour entry must include the entry form and a short essay (typed, double spaced and no longer than 500 words) that includes:
• Education
• Treaty 7 Knowledge and background
• The reasons why you want to be the next Calgary Stampede Indian Princess
Please include any information about yourself and your family that you feel would be informative and interesting during the judging process.
NOTE: Remember to include a copy of your driver’s license, a full regalia color photo, and the 500 word essay!
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
• Female, not less than 18 years of age and not more than 25 years of age as of Sunday, September 21, 2014.
• First Nations member of Treaty 7 (Must provide a copy of your Indian Status Card).
• Must include a copy of driver’s license.
• Must have never been married, lived common-law or have had a child.
• Must agree not to marry, live common-law or have a child during her reign.
• Must be available for the year long reign and promotion of the Calgary Stampede and Indian Village at special events.
• Must have own transportation and be accessible for the duration of her reign.
• Currently enrolled in Grade 12 or have completed a high school education.
• Must not have a criminal record and must consent to a security check.
• Competency in a native language is an asset.
• Riding ability is needed.
• Must submit photo in full regalia in JPEG format (white background).
• Must submit personal references (family not eligible as reference).
NOTE: Mandatory attendance will be required at the Calgary Stampede Indian Princess Crowning Orientation:
Saturday, September 6, 2014 • 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Stampede Park- Headquarters Building
Contestants will receive telephone confirmation of eligibility during the week of September 2, 2014.
ADDITIONAL CROWNING INFORMATION
You will be judged by representatives of the Calgary Stampede, Indian Events committee members and representatives of Treaty 7.Contestants will be judged on the following:
• Application Package • Dance• Personal Interview • Interpersonal Communication• Five Minute Public Speaking Presentation • Horsemanship and General Riding Ability
