9. U.S. Global Development Lab: Global Partnerships
|Public-Private Partnerships Analyst
Brief Office Description The Global Partnerships office is the Agency's center of excellence in public-private partnerships. We support USAID's overall engagement with the private sector as well as managing a portfolio of partnerships focused on key private sector-oriented issues, including entrepreneurship.
Brief Internship Position Description The intern's task will center on three areas, with the balance of tasks depending on the intern's specific skill set: (1) helping the Global Partnerships team improve its current and historical dataset of USAID's public-private partnerships; (2) providing analytical support to the team's Partnering to Accelerate Entrepreneurship (PACE) initiative; and (3) executing the team's overall corporate engagement strategy. (1) The team recently released a public dataset of nearly 1,400 public-private partnerships that USAID has engaged in since 2001. However, this dataset is based on data that was collected irregularly and in an unstandardized format, so the intern will work closely with the team using secondary research to improve the quality of this dataset, as well as potentially creating tools for the public to better access and use this data. This may be particularly well-suited to students with experience working with AidData's programs. (2) One of Global Partnerships' marquee programs, PACE, focuses on entrepreneurship acceleration, and the intern will support the implementation and analysis of this project. This may be particularly well-suited to students working on Duke's SEAD program, as there may be opportunities to link outcomes data from SEAD and PACE. (3) The intern will support the team's engagement with corporate partners, including supporting the management of relationships and events with the Lab's set of Cornerstone Partners.

17. U.S. Global Development Lab: Research Partnerships for
Development
|Open Research Analyst
Brief Office Description The Research Partnerships for Development Team leverages the investments of the U.S. Government (USG) research industry's (NIH, NSF, NASA, USGS, etc.) expertise, data, technical abilities and access to cutting edge research communities to exponentially advance evidence to action in low and middle income countries. We do this by directly funding research scientists in our USAID priority countries, who partner with a USG funded scientist, to perform rigorous and impactful research that advances their local development needs.
