AUDIENCE OVERVIEW
Our audience’s distinct values are a strong indicator of who is consuming our content, more so than traditional demographics. The best way to understand our readers is through what we call “stage of life consciousness” psychographics, and the related purchasing and professional behaviors inherent in those stages.
CONSCIOUS ACTIVIST (45%+)Those who strive to live consciously everyday. Yoga, meditation, or other mindful practices, as well as sustainable eating, consuming, and working, are a big part of daily life. They are loyal brand advocates for companies that are doing good in the world. They also demand that their work have purpose beyond a paycheck, and that their employer emphasize positive outcomes in the workplace and the world. Millennials are the primary audience here, but many other age and income categories fall into this stage of the life journey.
CONSCIOUS CROSSOVER (31%)Those who are in the middle of their journeys toward more conscious behavior. These are typically individuals who are consuming in a more mindful manner, both in diet and product choices. The transformation also shows up in all areas of life, especially work. The primary audience in this demographic is women in their late 30s, men in their late 40s, or more broadly older Millennials or mid-Gen Xers.
CONSCIOUS CURIOUS (15%) Those in the beginning of their journeys toward being conscious in how they eat, consume, and work, and those exploring the deeper self-inquiry of their role in the world and related meaning of life. The sweet spot falls in two categories: 1) Boomers taking a second look at their values set; 2) Early twenty-somethings exploring their values and ways they consume, act, and derive purpose from their initial career opportunities.

GEOGRAPHY Over 87% of our audience is in North America, but we have big plans to expand internationally with our first concerted effort in 2017. In North America, we have a strong presence in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Madison, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Toronto, Washington, DC, and many other markets (details available upon request). Our largest subscriber bases are in California, Colorado, Washington, New York, Texas, and Michigan.
GENDER
Over 60% of our print readership is female, while 54% of our online audience is men. In 2017 we expect our total audience to be more than 60% female across verticals.
CONSUMER PURCHASING POWER Household income levels average above $85,000 per year, with median of $110,00+.
BUSINESS PROFESSIONAL Approximately 63% of our audience is in leadership, team/mid-management, or primary influencer positions, making decisions on how best to drive their companies or respective teams forward.
AGEMore than half of our audience is in the Millennial age group (under 35) and, by the end of 2017, that number will rise to more than 60%.
