ROAD CLOSURES AND CLEARWAYS IN YOUR AREA
Mother’s Day Classic – Sunday 12th May 2019
The Mother’s Day Classic is an annual event where up to 11,000 participants take part in a run or walk for breast cancer research. The community event raises awareness of breast cancer through participating in fun, fitness and health with all proceeds going towards the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
The event will be held on Sunday 12th May 2019 in the Domain, adjacent to the Royal Botanic Gardens in the Sydney CBD. For the safety of participants a number of road closures and parking restrictions will be in place from 5am until 12midday. The start line will be located on Macquarie Street just north of Martin Place and events will begin from 7.30am. Pedestrian crossing will be managed at Martin Place while the event is underway.
Road closures (see map on reverse for more details):
• From 5am to 12midday: Art Gallery Road and Hospital Road. • From 6am to 10am: Sections of College Street, Macquarie Street, Prince Albert Road, St James Road, St
Mary’s Road and Boomerang Place/Yurong Parkway. Note: access to the Domain Car Park will be maintained throughout the morning until it becomes full. Special event clearways Parking restrictions will be in place between 5am – 10am and 5am -‐ 12midday on roads along and surrounding the event course. Special event clearways are no-‐parking zones -‐ even for residents with local parking permits. Check signs carefully when parking as vehicles left in clearways will be towed and a fee applies. If your car is towed you can call the Traffic Information Line on 132 701 to find its new location. Changed access Hospital Road will be open to two-‐way traffic between 5am and 12pm midday with access from Shakespeare Place only. There will be no access from Art Gallery Road. Access to Sydney Hospital & Sydney Eye Hospital, Department of Lands and The Mint will be managed by Who Dares Traffic Management during the closure.
