ANTOINE BRIFFA

Antoine Briffa is an Investment Manager at Calamatta Cuschieri where he co-manages the CC Euro Equity Fund and the CC Global Balanced Income Fund. In addition, he has gained experience through various senior roles at a top financial institution in Malta. Antoine was also an advisor to a number of local funds and consultant on Financial Derivatives to the United Nations Mission in Kosovo. Antoine holds an M.A in Economics and is a Certified Financial Risk Manager (GARP).
SANDRO BALUCI, CFA
Treasury and Investment Management, APS Bank Ltd
Sandro has been involved in the financial industry for 24 years. He started off as a commodities trader with HTS, a commodity trading advisor, a post he held for 9 years. Later he joined APS Bank as Treasury Manager, specialising in foreign exchange markets and fixed income securities. In 2008 he setup a unit to manage the APS Funds SICAV sub funds and provide discretionary portfolio services. Sandro served as director and investments committee member on a number of foreign SICAVs. He is currently the Head of Asset Management for APS Bank Ltd., and fund manager for the APS Income Fund and the APS Regular Income Ethical Fund. He received his Bachelor of Science (Physics and Chemistry) degree from the University of Malta and obtained his CFA charter in 2006. He is a member of the CFA UK Society and of ACI Malta.
NOELLE CAUCHI Senior and forming part of the Wealth and Asset Management Advisory Services team, EY Malta
Noelle is a Senior at EY Malta, forming part of the Wealth and Asset Management Advisory Services team. The team is involved in advising a number of different financial services providers on the most suitable structure applicable to their needs as well as aiding the client with all application procedures required to set up in Malta. Prior to joining this team, Noelle worked in the Mergers and Acquisitions team, carrying out due diligence on different organisations and designing a Business Recovery Plan for a large institution in Malta. In June 2014, Noelle worked in Newcastle upon Tyne (UK) with one of the largest credit institutions in the UK for 2 months, carrying out KYC procedures on its clients. Noelle graduated from the University of Malta in 2014, with a First Class Honours degree in Banking and Finance and has also completed all ACCA examinations in March 2016.
FRANK CASSAR
Assurance Manager, EY Malta
Frank is a Manager at EY’s Assurance practice in Malta and has been working for the firm for almost eight years. His focus is on audits or insurance entities and other financial institutions. Frank holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy form the University of Malta, is a Certified Public Accountant, holds a practicing certificate in auditing and is a member of the Malta Institute of Accountants. He is also a visiting lecturer and examiner at the University of Malta, delivering lectures in financial reporting and management accounting. Furthermore, Frank is the co-author of an academic paper, namely ‘Audit Fees and their Determinants in the Maltese Environment’ presented at the 2013 Annual Congress of the European Accounting Association in Paris.
SIMON ZAMMIT
CEO, Malta Stock Exchange
Simon has been employed with the Malta Stock Exchange since its inception in 1991 and has over the years managed various departments including the CSD, Data Operations and IT as well as spearheaded a number of the Exchanges’ major projects. Simon is a Member of the Institute for the Management of Information Systems and holds an MBA from Henley Management College.
LISA VELLA, CFA
Senior Investment Manager- Equity, HSBC Global Asset Management (Malta) Ltd
Lisa Vella, CFA has over 8 years’ experience in the Banking Sector, mainly in Investment Analysis and Management. She currently holds the post of Senior Investment Manager, Equity at HSBC Global Asset Management (Malta), and has been in this role since October 2014. Prior to joining HSBC, Lisa spent six years working at Bank of Valletta as a Senior Investment Analyst on multi assets including fixed income, equities, funds and foreign exchange and is also a part-time lecturer at the University of Malta in the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy. Lisa is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) holder from the CFA Institute, a global association of investment professionals and holds a degree in Bachelors of Commerce (Hons) in Economics from the University of Malta.
HON. PROFESSOR EDWARD SCICLUNA MP
Minister for Finance, Malta
Prior to March 2013 as an MEP Prof. Scicluna served as Vice-Chair of ECON. During 2013, he assumed the chairmanship of the EIB, and vice-chairmanship of the EBRD. He also served as Professor and Head of Department of Economics at the UofM, Chairman of the MFSA, Chairman of MCESD, Board Director at CBM, and Electoral Commissioner.Prof. Scicluna graduated from the University of Oxford with a Diploma with distinction in politics and economics, from the University of Malta with a First Class Honours BA degree in Economics, and the University of Toronto with a Masters and Doctorate in Economics.
DAVID PULLICINO
Chairman, Listing Committee, MFSA
Mr David Pullicino is the Chairman of the Listing Committee at the Malta Financial Services Authority. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.Mr Pullicino was with the Central Bank of Malta between 1968 and 1999 when he resigned to take up the position of Deputy Governor, a position he occupied up to the time of his retirement in 2010. He was Deputy Chairman of the committee at the Bank managing and monitoring the changeover to the euro and was Deputy Chairman of Malta’s National Euro Changeover Committee. He is an advisor on corporate matters to a company involved in the processing of electronic media and is a non-executive director of a second company where he is Chairman of their Audit Committee
