District 16 Section 81 Nebraska Chapter March 2014
A Note from Your Section Chairman:
This past month there has been lots of ups and downs with the weather and I am sure we all would like to see spring get here. I am sure we are all ready for some warmer weather soon. Our last meeting had to be changed due to scheduling issues we then were able to go to PEN STEEL to see their new facility. We had over 30 in attendance for the tour. Penny Rosso the President and Owner of PEN STEEL gave us a guided tour of her facility and the history of her success. We were able to see how automation has increased the size of her company with both space and employees. The next tour we have set up for this month is to be at Claas in La vista. They are a manufacture of Combines for the agricultural industry. Please check the dates for this tour. Next month is National Welding Month also it is when the Nebraska State Skills Competition with be held at the Century Link Center April 16,17,and 18th with the competitions all day on the April 17th. This event is open to public. There will be over 70 competitions. There will be 3 welding competitions happening there that day. This is the first time it has been held at a large venue like this it should be something you want to miss. Last month we held another Boy Scout Welding Merit badge workshop with 15 boys in attendance it turned out to be another great success. Again we held the class at Metropolitan Community College welding lab. As always we are in need of your support and would like you to please let us know what you would like to see being done at future meetings. Also if you think you would like to join the board please give me a call or one of the other board members.
Sincerely,
Chairman Chris Beaty
