Purpose: To prepare students to gain admission to nationally-recognized graduate programs and apply for competitive prestigious scholarships.

How to be prepared

Applying to Graduate School

is like competing in the Modern Pentathlon

Disciplines of the modern pentathlon

ShootingUse a 4.5mm air

pistol in a standing position from 10m

at a stationary target. Each

competitor gets 20 shots

Disciplines of the modern

pentathlon

FencingEach competitor will

face all other competitors once. The first fencer to score a hit wins

instantly.


SwimmingA 200m freestyle

race.


RidingShow jumping over a

course with 12- 15 obstacles. Competitors are paired with horses

just 20 minutes before the start of the event.


RunningA 3km cross-country race. Competitors are ranked according to their score

from the first four disciplines and given

different start times, with the leader going first.


The first person to cross the finish

line is the overall

winner of the pentathlon.

AIM High Student Responsibilities

Maintain a minimum 3.75 G.P.A. Keep my email address and contact

information current.Check my email and campus mailbox on a regular basis.

If I decide to no longer participate, I will inform

the Aim High Office of my intentions.

Aim High Program Goals

Attend at least 4 Aim High information sessions,

or programs sponsored by Aim High during

the 2009-10 academic year and to be

an active participant at these events.


Identify a faculty mentor to assist with

a) a scholarly project* and/or b) completing your

application.

•Funding for scholarly activities is available through the Office of Student Research .


Attend an APPetite for Life Event

Dinner with ASU faculty Discussion about

setting and attaining career goals

AIM High Recognition Banquet

Invitations will be extended if you

1) attend 4 AIM High meetings2) identify a faculty mentor

3) attend an APPettite for Life Event
