AIR FILTERS AND FILTRATION EQUIPMENTProduct catalogue
KS Klima-ServiceOur aim and mission is to manufacture products that protect human health and meet prescribed parameters of European and international standards and the strictest ecological and environmental regulations.
In 1993, Jirí and Liana Beseda have founded the KS Klima-Service Company that became an exclusive rep-resentative of the German company KS Klima-Service GmbH. It started to import air filters for the Czech and Slovak markets.
In 1995, the company began its own production, first of simple filters and then of technologically more compli-cated pocket filters, activated carbon filters and highly efficient HEPA filters. In order to increase its credibility and to win important orders, the KS Klima-Service a.s. joint stock company is founded in 1997.
The joint stock company KS Klima-Service has become one of the leaders in the field of atmospheric and sorption filtration on the Central and Eastern European markets. By integrating new production technologies and extend-ing our development and production base, we bring to the market new and unique products. We want to increase substantially export of our products to the EU countries as well as to other Central and Eastern European countries. We want to boost our position of a leader in terms of tech-nology, quality, customer care, development and produc-tion of new products in the field of atmospheric filtration.
MissionThrough its modern and responsible way of manage-ment, the KS Klima-Service joint stock company intends to provide to its customers the best services in the field of development, production and deliveries of air filters and filtration equipment.

Filter media from polyurethane are highly resistant to humidity and fully renewable. The structure of the KS PPI filter media (soft foamy matter) is resistant to stress and facilitates exceptionally high air in-take flow rates at low pressure losses.
The filter media from natural latex fibre H640 are designed for filtering coarse dust particles. They are supplied in the thick-ness of 20, 30 and 40 mm. They are used especially in the food processing industry and medicine.
Filter media from synthetic fibre consist of randomly arranged twisted non-woven fibres of varying thickness, reinforced with a plastic binder (or thermally) into a solid and stable filter fleece. They are used as pre-filters or 1st stage filters in air-condi-tioning and ventilation units. They are used for filtering coarse and fine dust particles.
Glass fibre media consist of elastic, twisted, randomly arranged glass fibres fixed with a special plastic in the point of contact. As the thickness of the fibre decreases, the filter media gets thicker and finer on the clean air side. This is to achieve a high degree of separation and huge dust accumulation ability. Some media are saturated with a non-harmful dust binding agent in order to achieve better binding and separa-tion of particles.
Floor filters from recycled paper pfor separation of paint drops during spraying. The Venturi effect combined with changes in flow of air containing paint particles provide a highly efficient protection. All types consist of two fanfold cardboards. Openings in the front panel are placed asymmetrically against openings in the back panel. When air is passing through the filter, the flow changes in all the three axes. Separated liquid particles are isolated in pockets formed in the back panel with deeper “V” folds. They are used independently or as pre-filters in multi-stage filtration systems of exhaust equipment in paint shops.
A wide range of special filter media from polyure-thane, natural latex fibres, synthetic and glass fibres for pre-filtration and main filtration in air-handling and air-conditioning units. The filter media are supplied in rolls or cut as required.

Filter propertiesThe medium is highly resistant to humidity and fully regenerable. The structure of the PPI is resistant to stress and facilitates exceptionally high air intake flow rates at low pressure losses. PPI media are reticulated polyester-based PU foams. The network structure is fully open and does not contain any closed cells. This is achieved during the thermal reticulation process (netting, meshing, cracking, corrugation) when all the cell membranes left after foaming break and merge with cell lamellas.
Types of PPI:• foam of medium strength when compressed • foam of higher strength when compressed • foam with better fire resistance conforming to the
MVSS 302 standard• PPI 30 • PPI 45 • PPI 60 as required
Field of applicationThey are used as pre-filters or 1st stage filters in airconditioning and ventilation units.

Filter propertiesThe filter is made with a filter media from glass fibres randomly arranged with high elasticity and low compressibility. This unique, elastic structure of the medium provides high absorbing capacity of the filter and encourages the operating safety of mounted filters. The medium contains also a special binder that binds excess paint containing a high portion of water component. The striking purple colour of the medium is the “dirty air side”, i.e. the inlet side. This is how the filter should be mounted correctly.
Field of applicationThe VS LAK filter is most often used in the first filtration stage and it captures aerosols of excess paint (so-called paint fog), including dry paint or varnish particles.

Filter propertiesProtective filter for capturing of paint drops during spraying. The Venturi effect combined with changes in flow of air containing paint particles provide a highly efficient protection. All types consist of two fanfold cardboards. Openings in the front panel are placed asymmetrically against openings in the back panel. When air is passing through the filter, the flow changes in all the three axes. Separated liquid particles are isolated in pockets formed in the back panel with deeper V folds.
Field of applicationThey are used independently or as pre-filters in multistage filtration systems of exhaust equipment in paint shops.

23POCKET FILTERS
Pocket filters are still the most used type of filters in all air-handling units. The name “pocket filter” is derived from its basic structural element, the pocket. The conic shape of pockets gives the best properties to the filter, it allows to use 100 % of filter area and to decrease the total initial pressure loss of the pocket filter. The new design of pocket filters with conic pockets guaranties energy costs savings thanks to lower pressure losses and longer service life of the filter.
We offer the possibility to deliver semi-finished products in form of sewn pockets or entire filter sleeves for subsequent processing and production of pocket filters. The filter pockets as well as sleeves are made from a synthetic or glass fibre medium.
Pocket filters are made in many variants, from filtration class G3 to F9 according to CSN EN 779:2012. The basic structural element of the filter is the filter medium. The most commonly used medium is a synthetic medium. Another possibility is a glass fibre medium or a specially adapted medium for potentially explosive atmospheres. Pocket filters with an absorption medium may be used in environments where it is necessary to remove odours. Development of filter media for atmospheric dust brings new solutions, e.g. nanofibres media, media with low pressure losses, media with high absorbing capacity, media with antibacterial treatment or media with aramid fibres with thermal resistance up to 240 °C.
The pocket filter frame is also made in various designs. The most common ones are made of plastic or zinc-coated. Another possibility is a stainless steel version of the frame. Pocket filter separators are made entirely from plastic, wood or zinc-coated. The range of sizes and design variants of pocket filters is almost unlimited which makes them suitable for use in air-handling equipment, both in older units and in new, modern air filtration equipment. They are suitable for e.g. food-processing, chemical, pharmaceutical industry, electric power plants, painting boxes, hospitals, offices, hotels and other premises.
The production process and input components for all pocket filters take into consid-eration energy performance.

Filter propertiesThe pocket filter KS PAK 85 E, F7 is made from polyester with a special inner structure. The mechanically bound fibres prevent spreading of and provide resistance to humidity and potentially harmful bacteria and chemicals. The medium structure has virtually two times larger filtration area in comparison with common pocket filters of the same dimensions. The pressure loss is up to 30 % lower. The inner area provides much higher dust particles absorbing capacity and the filter service life is 30 to 60 % longer. These qualities of the pocket filter do not compromise its performance; the performance level is better in each filtration stage. The pocket filter KS PAK 85 E, F7 complies with the EN 779:2012 standard requirements with regard to both the mean efficiency level (Em), and minimum efficiency (M.E.) in electrically discharged state.
Field of applicationThe filter is used as pre-filter or main filter for absorption of fine dust in air-conditioning systems in food-processing industry, pharmaceutical operations, hospitals and other areas.

Filter propertiesThe pocket filter KS PAK 35L is specially designed to absorb coarse dust in order to achieve an extremely high absorbing capacity. The filter is made from a new synthetic filter media that uses progressive thickening of fibres and allows receiving and efficient accumulating of dust particles for the whole period of service life of the filter. The optimised and robust structure of the filter guarantees very low pressure losses for the whole period of use of the filter.
Field of applicationThe pocket filters KS PAK 35L are ideal for use as a prefilter or a main filter in air-handling units in areas with high dust nuisance. It may also be used as a pre-filter in paint shops and spraying boxes in the air intake and outlet sides.

39FRAME FILTERS
Frame filters are very variable and, for their low depth, they are often a solution in limited spaces. They are supplied in filtration classes G2 – F9 according to CSN EN 779:2012.
The filter medium of frame filters may be made from both synthetic and glass fibre media, with a standard or very high thermal resistance. Another variant is an alu-minium intertwined medium or a polypropylene medium. Polypropylene is the light-est one of all textile fibres (0.91 g/m3), the fibre is resistant to chemicals, has a very good abrasion resistance, a minimum water absorbing capacity and a low tendency to get charged by static electricity.
The polypropylene filter medium is 100% hydrophobic and contains a mixture of polypropylene and other polymers specially mixed to achieve higher strength in com-parison with traditional materials (KS MPP filter).
The filter frame is made from a highly resistant hardened cardboard, zinc-coated metal, stainless steel or plastic. The most suitable variant of the separator is looked for in order to strengthen and increase stability of the frame filter. In order to strengthen the filter, the all-cardboard design uses cardboard grids covering the whole surface. This variant is the most common and the most demanded. In case of atypical frame filters or if required by the customer, a Z-line design of frame filters with wooden or cardboard separator may be supplied.
In some filters, the medium is normally sealed in the frame using a hot-melt system. Various designs of frame filters enable an unlimited dimensional line. Some types of frame filters are regenerable. They are used in particular in ventilation and air-condi-tioning of production halls, office and assembly rooms, telecommunication centres, health facilities, airport terminals.

58 COMPACT FILTERS
Compact filter elements represent a modern and efficient solution of fine dust sepa-ration. The compact filter is made of a robust plastic frame with high minipleat filter pleats sealed inside. The unique structure of the filter allows to decrease significantly initial pressure losses. The filter has very low energy costs at full load.
The standard compact filters are suitable for use in all common mounting frames for pocket filters. All the filter parameters comply with requirements of EN 779 and EN 1822. The all-plastic design allows for smooth disposal - the filter is fully incinerable. It is best suited for use in all air-conditioning and ventilation devices as after-filters or pre-filters and as microparticle filters. It may be used in normal, as well as in special conditions with higher service life, safety, variability and thermal resistance require-ments.
The TMP and TMPC compact filters separate air impurities in air intake systems of rotary compressors and offer a perfect protection against pollution, corrosion and ero-sion of key turbine components. TMP filters are most suited for use in gas turbines, diesel units, compressors and air-conditioning devices in power plants, because they feature low pressure losses and long service life. Combined with the range of syn-thetic fibre pocket filters, they offer an optimum ratio of separation level to service life at the lowest pressure losses.
The compact filters are supplied in the three designs: KS FP V3 in filtration classes M6 – F9 and KS FP in filtration classes M6 – F9 and E10 – H13.
A special design of the KS TMP and KS TMPC filters is offered in filtration classes from M6 to E10.

Filter propertiesThe design of the compact filter with 3 cassettes V3 achieves lower initial pressure losses compared with the 4 cassette compact filters type. The filtering area remains the same thanks to a higher minipleat. When these filters are used as replacement for pocket filters, the longer time of use with lower pressure losses guarantee substantial savings of energy costs. Handles situated in the upper part of the compact filter enable easier handling and elimination of damage to the filter medium.
Field of applicationPre-filtering and main filtering of fine dust particles and aerosols in filtration classes F6 - F9 in all air-handling devices in office buildings, hospitals, computer centres, pharmaceuticals production plants, precision mechanics and food-processing plants.

Filter propertiesCompact filter elements TMPC consist of 4V elements sealed on both sides into a plastic frame using polyurethane. The double-sided sealing of the filter pleat makes the filter resistant to dripping condensate and provides a long service life in extreme conditions. The maximally open intake areas, minimum pressure losses and larger areas of the filter medium maximise the dust accumulation capacity. The fully sealed HEPA version of the TMPC filter element has conical cover plates for optimum water outflow. The TMPC ultrafilters meet requirements laid by the youngest generation of ultra-efficient gas turbines that are very sensible to submicron particles. Due to higher demands and higher efficiency levels, these ultrafilters are supplied only in the HEPA version.

64 ABSOLUTE FILTERS FOR MICROPARTICLES
The absolute filters for microparticles in filtration classes E10 – H14 and U15 – U17 are used in intake, circulating and exhaust air devices with the highest air cleanliness and sterility requirements. By using ultra-soft glass microfibres and precise folding, the EPA, HEPA and ULPA filters achieve high submicron particles separation capaci-ties and guarantee a controlled air flow (laminar flow).
The frame for different types of EPA, HEPA and ULPA filters may be made from aluminium, multi-layer wood, MDF, stainless sheet metal or zinc-coated sheet metal. Separators of EPA, HEPA and ULPA filters are made using the so-called MINIPLEAT technology, when separators consist of a thermally processed melt adhesive. In spe-cial cases, the technology of inserted aluminium separators is used too. Seals of EPA, HEPA and ULPA filters is from a special section made from EPDM sponge rubber with closed surface. Form of the seal: flat, semi-circular, double-edged. Flat and gel seals, U-section seals and seals for high temperatures.
EPA, HEPA and ULPA filters are used in a wide range of applications. They are used in industrial processes (microelectronics, pharmaceutical industry, food-processing in-dustry, health care, optics, microbiology, etc.) - operating rooms and hospitals, clean work tables (laminar flow boxes) - ceiling outlets (extensions for clean rooms) and so-called fan filter units - treatment of hazardous substances such as asbestos, heavy metals and carcinogenic dusts - nuclear energy plants and nuclear research, etc. Hepa filters are manufactured in several variants: KS BESTFIL, Ultrafilter CR, Ultrafilter N, absolute filters JP, JK, JG, JKG.

74 FILTER UNITS FOR AIR-HANDLING PIPELINES
The design of the special filtration equipment for use in air-handling pipelines is adapted for an easy integration into the pipeline system. Its structure is solid and stable and manipulation is very easy. One KS BK may integrate even a multi-stage filtration from filtration class G1 to H13. The KS BK filtration equipment comes in dimensions range for air flow rates from 100 m3/h to 51,000 m3/h. The KS BK filtra-tion equipment can be combined with other equipments to achieve higher air flows. We offer complex services, from designing of the equipment to its installation.
The KS BK filter units are used when it is necessary to use pocket and compact filters, filter elements and compact filters with activated carbon at the same time. They may be used for air supply into telecommunication central offices, hospitals, pharmaceutical and electrical engineering plants, etc. In case of high cleanliness demands, we supply chambers in hygienic quality in filtration classes up to H13.
The NG filter units The NG channel filter units are stable units suitable in particular for areas with the need of supply of up to 12,000 m3/h of absolutely filtered air. Due to the possibility to assemble the units quickly and easily into variable sizes, they offer the possibility to use many types of KS filters.
A two-phase combination of filters consists of a KS FP filter for dust particles and a KS AFP adsorption filter for suppression of gases. They are mounted together into KS RS type mounting frames designed for this purpose. Both filter elements are placed one to another by flange sides and they are attached together into the KS RS mounting frame.

83ADSORPTION FILTERS WITH ACTIVATED CARBON
Activated carbon is used to adsorb odours and harmful gaseous impurities from air whose toxicity and smell are now a big burden for the environment and may be harmful for the humans, animals and plants. It has proven itself as an efficient agent. Activated carbon is used in air-conditioning, ventilating and special filtration equip-ment to clean the inlet, circulating and waste air. It is also a very efficient agent for treatment of drinking, industrial and waste water.
In most cases, activated carbon is added to filter cartridges that are manufactured in both standard and atypical designs. Filter cartridges are made from zinc-coated sheet metal, stainless steel or anodised.
Our range of filter units KS BD and KS BD BIG offers variable sizes depending on a concrete technical solution. A special equipment for sulfane elimination is a unique solution for water treatment plants. All the filtration devices with activated carbon are turnkey solutions delivered from design to assembly of the equipment.
Compact filters with various types of adsorption media containing non-impregnated or impregnated activated carbon are also used for elimination of odours and harmful gases. They are used in case of low concentrations (e.g. laboratories, specialised chemical establishments, etc.)

Filter propertiesThe KS KOPA filter system consists of a mounting frame and filter cartridges filled with activated carbon. The filter cartridge consists of two cylinders of different diameters made from a special perforated sheet metal. The intermediate space formed by the difference of diameters determines the width of the activated carbon layer. Activated carbon is optimally filled into this intermediate space on a shaking machine. The closed cartridge has a gasket that ensures a gas-tight mounting in the base frame. The cartridges are fixed to the base frame by three special clamping bolts through a bayonet closure and forms a stable filter unit. The KS KOPA-BIG type cartridges are used for high flow rates.

87SULOFF desulphurisation unitSpecial applications
SULOFF desulphurisation unit
Removal of sulfane (H2S) from biogas; technology developed in cooperation with the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague
Unit descriptionCleaning takes place in an adsorption apparatus with a fixed bed through which biogas is flowing. The cylindrical stand of the adsorption apparatus is made of corrosion-proof steel with an opening in the upper part for filling with sorbent. For the purpose of gas inlet, the adsorption apparatus is equipped with the inlet pipeline with a standardised connecting flange. The adsorption apparatus is installed on a concrete bed with its supporting feet anchored to it. On its outer side, the adsorption apparatus is insulated with mineral and glass wool with a thickness of 100 mm – in the aluminium jacket covering the whole adsorption apparatus.
SorbentThe adsorption is performed using impregnated activated carbon in the form of small-sized granules. The weight of the filling depends on the type of the adsorption apparatus.
Field of applicationThe line of desulphurisation units serves for the removal of sulfane by means of adsorption using a special adsorption material – activated carbon with the subsequent catalytic oxidation to elemental sulphur that will be trapped by sorbent. The adsorption material deactivates in consequence of the release of elemental sulphur. Therefore, it is necessary to replace it after a certain period of time. The desulphurisation efficiency amounts to 96 – 99 %.
ServicingThe servicing provided by KS Klima-Service a.s. ensures the contactless change of the adsorption apparatus.

Filter propertiesImpregnated granular activated carbon is used for the adsorption of gases and vapours that are adsorbed by standard activated carbon very little or are not adsorbed at all. These are low-molecular and polar substances with a low concentration and toxic effects. The complex chemical reaction of a harmful substance with an impregnating agent brings about the removal of the substance from the air – harmful gases are chemically bonded to the impregnating agent in activated carbon (chemical adsorption). When it is required to separate various harmful substances in one unit at the same time, it is necessary to design a multi-stage filtration unit with activated carbon impregnated at various levels.
Field of applicationFor use in the KS KOPA, KS-BD, KS KOPA BIG, KS BD BIG systems.
Waste disposalEnvironmentally friendly disposal according to applicable standards and laws.
93ACCESSORY EQUIPMENT
Pressure gauges are used for detection of pressure losses in built-in air filters. They may be used to measure underpressure or overpressure (e.g. in spraying boxes). Due to an easy mounting and low price, they are indispensable for detecting the final pressure loss of the filter. It increases substantially the efficiency of use of a filter and brings operating costs savings.
Pressure gauges can be mounted easily on filter chambers and they are supplied with accessories (contrast liquid, delivery hoses...) or with the possibility of electronic connection to automatic control (a higher measurement and regulation system). We supply pressure gauges in ranges from 50 to 50,000 Pa. We supply also a Magne-helic line of pressure gauges in the range from 1,000 – 5,000 Pa.

Environmental profile
Our air filters are designed and manufactured with a main objective, which is to provide clean air in the most efficient way, for a competitive price and with a mini-mum impact on the environment. Part of our corporate philosophy is to offer to our customers complete care, i.e. also for used filters. We perform ecological disposal of used filters by landfilling or incinerating in appropriate waste incinerators.
Our company own a licence and authorisation to collect used filters from all regions of the Czech Republic. We are a holder of a trade licence in the field of hazardous waste management and, therefore, we may offer to our custom-ers all the necessary administrative support in each con-crete case of collection of used filters.
In January 2006, the company got an environmental management system certificate according to the CSN EN ISO 14001:2005 standard, which guarantees to our cus-tomers the highest quality of care about the environment. These services are turnkey services that include collection of used filters from the building (our vehicles have the ADR authorisation to transport hazardous waste), recording of amount of waste and making out of relevant transport and waste disposal documents required by law.
We provide disposal of used filters under the catalogue number 15 02 03 and 04 02 22 (under the amendment to Act no. 185/2001 on waste) and disposal of hazardous waste under the catalogue number 15 02 02 N (filter ma-terials), etc.

97Production, research and development
Production – maximum flexibility according to the requirements of customersBy means of a responsible approach to each order, provi-sion of additional services at a high level (transport, eco-friendly waste disposal, etc.), and introduction of up-to-date production technologies (media folding equipment, media cutting equipment, production of HEPA filters by means of the minipleat technique, etc.), KS Klima-Ser-vice a.s. intends to provide its customers with maximum comfort and to maintain a high quality standard.
The KS Klima-Service research centre offers several filter testing optionsOur testing facilities offer verification of pressure loss val-ues at a given flow rate or tests of faultlessness and effi-ciency of HEPA filters. One of the test devices is a test rig for measuring parameters of air filters. The rig has been constructed with a view to accelerating the development of new products and ensuring precise technical basic data for our products. The whole rig, its dimensions, lengths, and basic data for the location of measuring elements have been determined in compliance with ISO 5801 and EN 779 standards.
Another device is a mobile station for EPA, HEPA filters de-fectoscopy for testing of filters of higher filtration classes E10 – E12, H13 – U17 – by means of the oil thread leak test ac-cording to EN 1822-4, Annex A. Those filters are used in the environments with high demands for air cleanliness, e.g. in operating rooms. The test facilitates the detection of even smallest damages to the filters. Filters designed for areas with the highest cleanliness demands are tested on our new-est and state-of-the-art automatic scanning device TOPAS AFS 150. Measurement results are recorded in a certificate on verification of filter faultlessness and efficiency.
Research and developmentIn the course of previous years, the experts of KS Klima-Service a.s. developed several important filters and filter devices launched successfully on the domestic and foreign markets. They include especially a filter system for separat-ing microparticles and gaseous particles in nuclear power stations, SULOFF adsorption equipment for removing sul-fane from biogas, KS MPP M6-F9 frame filters or small compact filter units KS NICE AIR designed in particular for elimination of harmful gases and odours in passive houses.
In the following period, we will concentrate on the de-velopment of new highly efficient filters with low initial pressure losses and on the application of new synthetic materials in the production of modern pocket filters.
