6. Spiritual Activities :
Our members have already been informed that Revered SwamiSmarananandaji Maharaj, senior Vice President of RamakrishnaMath & Ramakrishna Mission visited Somsar Sri RamakrishnaSeva Mandir in the year 2012. He was received respectfullyby the villagers and students of the Ashram on 24th July, 2012.He stayed at the Ashram upto 30th July, 2012. There wasinitiation of the devotees for 3 days (25.07.12, 26.07.12 and28.07.12). The entire Ashram became charged with spiritualenvironment. The devotees from far and near villages used toassemble in the morning and evening for his kind Darshan andPranam. We are very proud that Swamiji enjoyed his stay inthe Ashram and on the last day of his stay the foundationstone of the new prayer hall was ceremoniously laid by himin presence of other monks. Then, Swamiji left for Belur Mathon 30th July, 2012. The reason for mentioning this in this yearis that because of his belssings only our workers are gettinginspired continuously and the construction work of the PrayerHall is going on smoothly and in right direction.
Somsar Sri Ramakrishna Seva Mandir is proud to become achosen centre of Ramakrishna Vivekananda devotees in thislocality. There is no other such organisation in and aroundof 20 kilometers radius of this locality. So, the devoteesautomatically assembled in the Somsar Ashram during theyearly calendar celebration as followed by Ramakrishna Math,Belur Math. 7. VIVEKANANDA SWASTHYA PARISEVA PRAKALPA
This programme has come to us through VivekanandaSwasthya Seva Sangha and Ramakrishna Math Yogodyan,Kankurgachi.
About 100 beneficiaries including pregnant mothers, lactatingmothers and infant below 12 years are given food, valueeducation, medical treatment, if necessary, also extracurricular activities. This is successfully going on at PaschimPara village of Somsar.
However, this Prakalpa has come to an end after 31st March,2014, as Ramakrishna Mission has decided to close thisprogramme as per the tenure of the programme made beforestarting the project. However, there are similar GovernmentProgrammes in the village, e.g. Janani Suraksha Yojana andICDS programme. So both Somsar Sri Ramakrishna SevaMandir and Vivekananda Swasthya Seva Sangha has takeninitiative to handover the beneficiaries to this existingGovernment Programme available in the villages. We havemade the link up of the beneficiaries and ASHA workers asfar as possible, so that their health care service is continued. We have also informed the villagers by organising somemass meeting and made aware of the situations.

A) EDUCATION
A Higher Secondary School exists in Somsar Village but thespread of educational activity was very much felt necessary. Two non-formal schools are running under the supervision ofthe Seva Mandir, one is situated well within the Ashramcompound and other is at Paschimpara. Regularly 178 childrenstudy in the Ashram school while 75 children study atPaschimpara School. Beside academic studies, students withinterest are participating in various games, learning music andBratachari dance and drills. B) HEALTH
Till a few years ago no medical facilities were available atSomsar village. Keeping in view the need for medical facilitiesfor the villagers of Somsar and surrounding areas, theauthorities of Seva Mandir arranged for providing health andmedical services with the help of Vivekananda Swasthya SevaSangha (VSSS).
At an interval of every 15 days doctors along with otherhealth workers carrying medicine and other facilities reachSomsar village. The doctors stay at the village throughout theday, carefully examine the patients and prescribe medicine. On the third week of every month specialist doctors, dentists, eye specialists, gynaecologists go to village andexamine the patients and thus enormously benefit them.Every third week of the month the Mobile Medical Van ofVSSS reaches the village people and camps there for 3consecutive days. The Health workers attached to the Vanconduct X-Ray, Blood tests of the villagers for ascertainingtheir ailments and take remedial steps. In this year as manyas 4822 patients were treated. People of Somsar and ofmany villages around Somsar have thus been benefited. TheHealth workers of VSSS not only treat the ailing villagers butthey also impart necessary health education to the young menand girls of the villages making them health conscious. Thosetrained workers then visit every home in the villages andascer tain facts. Thus within a short time a markedimprovement is noticed in the health awareness among thevillagers despite they are ordinary and poverty-ridden livingin remote rural areas. In the meanwhile due to earnest desireof the villagers of Somsar village, Homeopathic treatmentthrough a separate section has already run. In the fourth weekof every month two experienced doctors along with volunteersvisit Somsar households. It is expected that within a shorttime this particular section shall become popular. Annualstatistics in this regard have been placed hereafter.
SPECIALIST CAMP
Somsar Sri Ramakrishna Seva Mandir is very happy toorganise occasional Specialist Camp with the help ofVevekananda Swasthya Seva Sangha at Ashram Dispensaryduring this year.
Following camps were held :
Dental Somsar 41 patients
Female Diseases Somsar 337 patients
SWAMI BHUTESHANANDA CENTENARY HOSPITAL :
This has started functioning with a full fledged Day Care Healthlicense from the Government of West Bengal, Department ofHealth, since last March 2014. Our service now are focusedon examination of patients by general physicians and alsospecialists services like Gynaecologist, Pediatric, Dental, Eyeetc. In every cases we are providing medicine in full doses. We have also provision for Homeopathic medical service byRegistered Homeopaths.
Our day care license is ready, all the equipments are also ready. We are desperately looking for a full time MBBS doctor forstarting Snake Bite treatment. We have given advertisementto the Newspaper and we are constantly trying to find out fulltime residential Doctor even with due amount of honorarium.
In the meantime, we have realised one of the major fact thatthere is no investigation facilities like blood test, X-ray,Sonography, ECG in this locality. When large number of patientsare seen by experienced specialist but for basic test they needto travel either Burdwan or Bankura. This is not going to solvetheir problems and some investigation facility at the doorstepis the urgent need of the moment. On this background SomsarSri Ramakrishna Seva Mandir is seriously trying to start asmall pathological lab alongwith X-ray and Sonography facilitiesin very short time. This project, will be viable by self generatingcontribution from the patients who are taking these facilitiesat the door step.
Similarly Somsar Sri Ramakrishna Seva Mandir is alsoplanning to open a fair price medicine shop where genericnamed medicine are available. Now the patients are gettingreports of the tests but medicines are being purchased at a

E) MA SARADA NARIKALYAN KENDRA(Mother Sarada Women Welfare Centre)
The project was initiated on the occasion of 153rd birth-anniversary of the Holy Mother. The aim was to serve two oldvillage women considering them as the Holy Mother. Everydaytwo women use to be present in the Ashram. With due dignity
they accept Prasad at the Ashram and participate in allprogrammes. What is most remarkable is that at their leisurehours they prepare varieties of spices like Jira, Dhania, Haldi,as also like varieties of Bari (lentil balls). This was a greatimpetus to other devotees keen on preparing such spices.

Somsar Sri Ramakrishna Seva Mandir is a tiny drop in thevast ocean of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda movement. Theproblems that stir the villagers are far too many and our effortsand resources to fight them are indeed meagre. But ourinspiration never wanes. We have been marching ahead withthe kind co-operation and support of all. We earnestly praybefore Sri Ramakrishna, the Holy Mother and Swamiji that wemay be able to steer our efforts in the right direction and allour work may indeed lead us to their lotus feet.
FUTURE PLAN
Though, our primary duty is to complete the ongoingconstruction of Prayer Hall, which is the most priority item, simultaneously we also constantly remember about our fulfillingthe following commitments:-
1. The Swami Bhuteshananda Centenary Dispensary is not yetfully utilized. We are looking out for a fulltime doctor to runthe dispensary with full capacity. No trained doctor isavailable from local village or otherwise, inspite of ouradvertisement in media.
2. The construction of Centenary Gate at the entrance ofSomsar Village is still lying incomplete and we are in theprocess of taking up the construction very soon.
3. Paschimpara School – A new school building complex tobe built at our Ashram land inside the village. The finaldesign and building plan is approved. We have someresources and construction to start very soon.
4. To construct a museum in the Ashram campus where holyarticles and dresses of most Revered SwamiBhuteshanandaji Maharaj will be preserved. The plan is tobuild the museum at the end stage of prayer hallconstruction.
