Monday, July 10: London of the Royal Academy Royal Academy (f. 1768, seat of British art establishment, including permanent collection) Leighton House: “Alma-Tadema: At Home in Antiquity” Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema’s (1836 –1912) paintings brought him world renown, especially in America and England. His images of Classic Antiquity still influence directors of films such as Gladiator and Ben Hur. This international loan exhibition will be complemented by its installation at Leighton House Museum, the home and studio of the leading Victorian artist and Tadema friend, Frederic Lord Leighton (1830–96) and considered one of the finest architectural sights in London.

Thursday, July 13: Victorian Arts Victoria & Albert Museum (1852, major collection of British art and design as presented in The Great Exhibition of 1851) FREE AFTERNOON
