Set Up & GoSet up & go
When you first turn on yourphone, you need to create or log
into your MOTOBLUR account.MOTOBLUR syncs your contacts, email,messages, and status information, for allyour accounts, all in one place.Registration is secure and should onlytake a few minutes.
Note: This phone supports apps andservices that use a lot of data, so makesure your data plan meets your needs. For
details, contact your service provider.1.To turn on your phone, press
and hold Power on topof your phone.
2.Select a language.3.Register or log in.
If you have not created a MOTOBLURaccount, youll need to register: Enteryour name, your current email address
(where MOTOBLUR can send accountinformation), and a new MOTOBLURpassword.
4.Add your accounts to MOTOBLUR.To add an account, touch it. Then, enterthe user name or email and passwordthat you set up on that account.
Tip: For more, or to add accountsanytime, go to Add Accounts on page26.
5.When your phone shows your homescreen, import your SIM contacts: Touch
Dialer > Contacts, thentouch Menu > Import/Export >Im port cont act s fr om: SIM card .Touch OK to confirm.

SecurityYour contacts are backed-up onMOTOBLUR, so dont worry. Even if you
lose your phone, MOTOBLUR can help youfind it or wipe it. And when you get yournext MOTOBLUR product, your stored infomakes it a snap to set up with just yourusername and password.

To show options for list items (likeContacts), touch and hold them. To
show options for your current display,touch Menu .
To set a security lock that you need toenter whenever you wake up your
phone, touch Menu > Set t ings >Locat ion & secur i t y > Set up screenlock .
In many apps, the touchscreen switchesfrom portrait to landscape when you
rotate your phone. To turn this on or off,touch Menu > Set t ings > Display >Aut o-rotate screen .
Power & Sleep Key
Press and hold Power toopen a menu where you canturn off sound (Silent mode),network and wireless
connections (Airplane mode), or thephone (Power of f ).
To save your battery, prevent accidental
touches, or when you want to wipesmudges off your touchscreen, put thetouchscreen to sleep bypressing Power . To wake up thetouchscreen, just press Power again.
To change how long your phone waitsbefore the screen goes to sleepautomatically, touch Menu > Settings> Display > Screen t imeout .
Tip: To make the screen lock when it goesto sleep, use .
Volume KeysPress the volume keys on the
side of the phone to changethe ring volume (in the homescreen), or the earpiecevolume (during a call).

Sign in to browse and manage apps for allyour Android devices.
If you have trouble removing an app, turn
off your phone, then turn it backonwhen you see the Motorola logoduring power-up, press and hold bothvolume keys until you see the homescreen. Your screen will show Safe Mode
in the lower left corner, and you canremove the app.
To reinstall apps from Android Market,touch > (in the top right) > My apps.
The apps you downloaded are listed andavailable for download.
Choose CarefullyApps are great. There's something for
everyone. Play, communicate, work, orhave fun. But remember, choose yourapps carefully. Here are a few tips: To help prevent spyware, phishing, or
viruses from affecting your phone or
privacy, use apps from trusted sites, likeMarket .
In Market , check the apps ratings and
comments before installing. If you doubt the safety of an app, don'tinstall it.
Like all apps, downloaded apps will use upmemory, data, battery, and processing
powersome more than others. Forexample, a simple battery level widget willuse less than a streaming music playerapp. After installing an app, if you're nothappy with how much memory, data,
battery or processing power it's using,uninstall it. You can always install it againlater.
Just like web browsing, you may want tomonitor childrens access to apps to help
prevent exposure to inappropriate content. Certain apps may not provide completely
accurate information. Take care, especiallywhen it comes to personal health.

Update Your PhoneYou can use your phone or computer tocheck, download, and install phone software
updates: Using your phone:
If your phone notifies you about an update,follow the instructions to download andinstall it.
To manually check for updates,touch Menu > Settings > Aboutphone > Syst em updates.Your phone downloads any updates overyour mobile network. Remember, these
updates can be quite large (25MB or more)and may not be available in all countries. Ifyou dont have an unlimited data plan, ormobile network updates are not availablein your country, you can update using a
computer. Using your computer:
On your computer, go towww.motorola.com/supportand check theSoftware links. If an update is available,
just follow the installation instructions.

Your touchscreen might
stay dark during calls ifthe sensor just above itis covered. Don't use covers or screenprotectors (even clear ones) that coverthis sensor. To find Motorola accessories

Call Forwarding & WaitingCall forwarding can forward calls all thetime, or only when your phone is busy,unanswered, or unreachable (not on thenetwork). To set call forwarding, touch
Menu > Settings > Call set t ings >Call forwarding.
Call wait ing lets you answer a secondcall when youre already on a call. To turnoff Call wait ing and send second calls
straight to your voicemail, touchMenu > Settings > Call set t ings >Addit ional set t ings > Call wait ing.
Restrict Outgoing Calls
To restrict your phone so that it can onlydial a few numbers, touch Menu >Settings > Call set t ings > Fixed dialingnumber .
To turn fixed dialing on, touch FDNdisabled.
To add or delete the allowed numbers,
touch Manage FDN l ist .Cool DownIn very limited circumstances, such aswhere your phone has been exposed to
extreme heat, you may see Cool Downmessages. To avoid possible damage toyour battery and phone, you should followthese instructions until the phone is withinits recommended temperature range.
When your phone is in Cool Down mode,only emergency calls can be made.

Link ContactsYou might have two Contacts for thesame person; maybe a Facebook friend
who is also stored on your SIM card, orone friend with two email addresses. Tocombine these two contacts:
Find it: Dialer > Contacts
Touch a contact to open it, thentouch Menu > Link cont act and touchthe second entry. Your MOTOBLURaccount remembers this connection.
Create ContactsFind it: Dialer > Contacts > Menu> Add cont act
Touch a text box to type the name anddetails. When youre finished,touch Menu > Save.
Where are contacts saved? Your phonesaves new contacts in its memory, yourMOTOBLUR account, and other accounts

Synchronize Contacts
When you change one of your Contacts,your phone automatically updates yourMOTOBLUR account online. Also, yourphone updates your Contacts andMOTOBLUR account whenever you
