1. A SMP meeting was held on 06 September 2017 at MCAS Camp Pendleton Hall of
Heroes. List of those in attendance is provided on the sign in sheet
(attachment 1).
2. SgtMaj Robinson – SgtMaj MCAS CamPen –
Purpose of MCAS having its own meeting was discussed. MCAS Camp Pendleton
Marines and those that fall under MAG-39 will have their own meeting
month aboard MCAS Camp Pendleton and will not be required to separately
attend the Camp Pendleton Installation SMP Meeting. This meeting is open
as a town Hall style meeting that all service members’ regardless of
Marital status or SMP representative status can attend to discuss quality
of life and recreational needs. SMP representative and Unit SgtsMaj are
required to be in attendance.
Junior Marines use this opportunity to discuss issues with senior
enlisted leadership and discuss and plan the future of the program, think
outside the box, no check the box attitude.
Command should be authorizing P-TAD when possible for short periods of
time to support SMP events and Volunteer Opportunities. If Marines have
time to smoke and complain then have time to volunteer.

Request have been submitted for an outdoor shade structure for the tire
flip area and bathroom renovation in the future. These are not guaranteed
project but have been requested.
A Marine requested a Do Jo style room for martial arts- Jennifer stated
there is a padded room in the facility where Martial arts can be
practiced.
8. Mr. Davis Stocks Deputy Logistics officer – shared availability to support
Marines QOL needs and concerns. Shared concept of requesting air conditioning
in 24 Area to support “Day Sleepers”, broken appliances like washers and dryers
can be replaced quickly.
9. Volunteer Opportunities and Upcoming Trips - Subjects discussed were in SMP
agenda (Attachment 2).
SgtMaj Robinson shared Friday 13 October NCO Event “Right Hand Man Night”
Keynote speakers, PME with Steak and Beer. RSVP required with choice of
steak or chicken. Armor of Light sponsored event
Once per quarter we are going to plan a 23/24 area police call volunteer
We will plan more in depth activities for “Days of Service” in April near
earth day.
Mr. Stocks suggested a development of a Car Show aboard the air station
as a possible fund raiser.
10. Best Practice Sharing –
MAG-39- new reps were recently appointed to replace non active reps
VMM 164- Thursday “Night Rider” Round Table Meetings are where all events
are shared and briefed.
HMLA 303- Nothing to pass
MALS-39- Unit wide emails are used to share activities and events
MSgt Alexander- Hand HS MCAS is looking for a new rep to replace Sgt
Ferguson the new MCAS CAMPEN SMP President.

Advanced registration is required for all SMP trips, events & volunteer opportunities. Program events are open only to single Marine and Sailors stationed on Camp Pendleton. Participants who volunteer must register in advance with SMP HQ in order to receive a letter of appreciation. Volunteers must provide their own transportation except for PE fitness Challenge. A signed command permission slip is required for all SMP activities. All activities depart from Semper Fit Headquarters Bldg. 1253. Unless otherwise stated and require that participants utilize the provided transportation.
Upcoming SMP Meetings, Trips and Special Events 10/05 – Monthly SMP Meeting Single Marine Program monthly meeting will be held at 1330 at 43 Area SMP Rec Center, bldg. 430414 10/06 – 10/09 – Las Vegas Trip – The largest sum won on the Las Vegas slots was at the Excalibur. After putting in $100, they won $39 million, beating the odds at the time for 1 in 16.7 million. SMP Volunteer Opportunities Retirement Home Visits Have dinner with the residents. Charlies are the requested uniform for these events. Max of 6-10 volunteers needed for each opportunity. Each event begins at 1600. 10/10 - Rancho Vista Retirement Home 10/11 - Pacific Place Retirement Home 10/25 - Fairwinds Retirement Home 10/04 & 10/18 - 1000 Base Stables Volunteer Day Camp Pendleton Stables, Bldg. 1516. Participants will help clean & groom horses, clean stalls, & help with general maintenance at the stables. Uniform of the day is civilian attire. Closed toed shoes are required. A maximum of 10 participants are needed for this opportunity. Participants must sign up prior to the event. Bring water! 10/14 1700 Pumpkin Plummet 10 Volunteers needed at 13 Area Pool. Volunteers may wear civilian attire and will help with parking, games and crowd control. An LOA will be issued to volunteers, dinner will also be provided. 10/27 P.E. Fitness Challenge Volunteers will host an all-day fitness challenge at an on-base school. All volunteers must meet at Semper Fit Headquarters at 0630. Please eat breakfast before you arrive. Dress attire is the Marine Corps Running Suit with green PT shorts and plain skivvy shirt underneath. Lunch will be provided. 40 volunteers needed.
