HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADDRES
S YOUR AUDIENCE?
My magazine is aimed at all students, so the use of a coverline that is relevant to everyone will widen the potential reader range. ‘Your NEW Student Union Representatives’ is an intriguing title, as the change in position affects all college students; hopefully the coverline will convince the students to read into the article.
MAIN COVERLINE
On my contents page I kept the bright, graffiti background as a
recurring theme. This, along with the use of images, is a design
feature that I used to attract my audience. I believe that most
students would find the use of colour an intriguing element, and
the vibrancy of it should also automatically draw the eye.
CONSISTENT BACKGROUND
The main image is of two typical students in an everyday college setting. As the image is relatable to the readers, I think it should entice them into reading further into the content. The students are wearing normal clothes and are smiling at the camera which makes it seem friendly and inviting; if they were posing with closed body language and had ‘moody’ expressions, the magazine would seem more intimidating and less people would want to read on.
MAIN IMAGE
I used my contents page to layout information in such a
way that all students can find what they’re looking
for quickly and easily. I created 4 headings of
‘College News’, ‘Music’ and ‘Deals’ to help with the
navigation, and to immediately show what
sort of content the magazine contains. I think
the simplicity of the navigation will appeal to
students, because it requires minimal effort.
