Theneedtomeasuresuchawiderange,frommicrostandbycurrentstoinrushcurrentsthatcanreachtensofamperestradiKonallynecessitatetheuseofseparatesensorsequippedwiththeappropriaterangesothatresoluKonandaccuracyarenotsacrificed.Usingahigherrangecurrentsensortomeasurelowstandbycurrentwillrevealnomeaningfulresult,whilesensorswithalowrangewillnotbeabletohandlehighcurrentssafely.

ASolu.onin3-RangeHiokiCurrentSensors:HiokiprovidesasoluKonforthisparKcularapplicaKonwiththeCT6710(50MHzbandwidth)andCT6711(120MHzbandwidth)currentprobes,bothofwhichofferthreeseparaterangestoanexpansiverangeofmeasurementsinasingleunit.Inthe30Arange,inrushcurrentofupto50Apeakcanbemeasured,andinthe0.5Arange,1mAcurrentcanbeaccuratelyobservedwithoutconcernofthesignalbeingburiedinnoise-allwhilemaintaining±3.0%accuracyinall3ranges.

MeasurementsafetyisacriKcalissueespeciallywhenhighcurrentsarepresent,andthisisespeciallytruefortheelectricalvehicledevelopmentenvironment.TheCT6710andCT6711improveworkefficiencyandtaketheguess-workoutofselecKngtherightrangebyofferingabuilt-infuncKonthatprotectsagainstexcessivecurrentinput.Withthesesensors,ifyouaccidentallymeasureacurrentbeyondthesetrange(0.5Aor5A),thesensorsaredesignednottofail.

Besidesmotorcurrent,EngineControlUnits(ECU)thatoutputalargenumberofsignalsalsoneedtobemeasuredandverifiedfortheirabilitytocommunicatewithoneanothertoensuretheproperoperaKonofinstrumentaKonandotherautomoKvecomponents.Thiscaneasilybeachievedwithhigh-speeddataacquisiKonequipmentsuchasaMemoryHiCorder.
