Balsells Graduate Fellowship Program

The Balsells Graduate Fellowship Program at the University of Colorado Boulder (UCB) and the University of California, Irvine (UCI) provides graduate fellowships and assistantships to allow outstanding students from Catalonia to pursue master's and doctoral degrees in any engineering field at the two universities. The Colorado program has a focus on bioengineering.
ENGINEERING:
Requirements/Benefits � Participants must be citizens and permanent residents of Spain,
graduates in engineering or science from universities in Catalonia, or graduates of other European Universities and residents of Catalonia, speak and write fluently in both Catalan and Spanish, and be able to succeed in courses taught in English.
� Applicants must be accepted for graduate study in one of the engineering departments at UCI or UCB and then apply for the Balsells Fellowship. Each fellow pursues an MS thesis or PhD dissertation.
� Balsells fellows receive a competitive monthly stipend, as well as payment of tuition, fees, and a portion of health insurance — a combined value of over $50,000 per year.

Undergraduate Program: Engineering Research InternshipsThe Balsells International Mobility Program is a unique opportunity for undergraduate students in the Catalonia region of Spain to complete their mobility projects in engineering at either the University of Colorado Boulder or the University of California, Irvine. The program provides the opportunity to complete a semester research internship in a campus engineering lab.
Requirements/Benefits
� Prove academic and professional development.
� Demonstrate interest in PhD studies in the U.S.
� Intend to apply for the Balsells Graduate Program.
� Have intermediate English proficiency and advanced standing academically.
� Receive international and local transportation, room and board for one semester, research supplies, and faculty mentorship.
