Hello People!

Spring is here and we are excited! It’s so nice to get out and see the wonderful signs of life springing up everywhere!

Our volunteers are a lot like spring. Everyone is happy to see them and they make our center bright and colorful with all the goodness they bring each day!

Every day, our volunteers come to the center ready to help serve you. Whether it’s greeting you at the door, serving a meal, setting up for activities and games, leading a class, organizing the Nifty Nook, driving the bus, helping on trips, delivering meals, or calling BINGO- they are the heart of the center! As we continue to grow, the work that the volunteers do increases. They are here out of the goodness of their heart. Be sure to say “Thank you” when you see a volunteer.

Cheers! Kathy and Dawn

Spring Fling! We are ready for Mother

Methodist Students The nursing

students will be taking blood pressures on Thursday, April 5th from 10:00 am – noon. They will return on Thursday, April 19th from 10:00- noon for blood pressure checks and a presentation.

Why did I just eat that? Sometimes you

wonder if it’s just something you ate, or something more serious. Bring your upset tummy concerns to Nurse Theresa. She will be discussing digestive diseases on Wednesday, April 4th at 11:15 am.

Bellevue West Saber Team They will be

performing for us on Friday, April 20th at 11:30 am. The ROTC has been practicing all year and sharpening their skill as well as their swords! Come watch the students and stay for lunch.

Rescheduled Volunteers Meeting – Let’s try this again!Kitchen volunteers will meet on Friday April 6th at 1:30 pm andFront Desk Volunteers will meet on Friday, April 6th at 2:30 pm.It is very important that you attend. If you are interested involunteering, check with the office and we can match a job withwhat you like to do. The center is growing in numbers, and our needs are changing. Our volunteers who attend they meeting will have their name thrown in the hat for a special drawing.

Superstitious? – Don’t be afraid to

come to breakfast this month! We won’t have any ladders for you to go under or any black cats to cross your path – just a stack of delicious pancakes waiting for you ! Join us on Friday, April 13th at 9:00 am.

Volunteer Appreciation DinnerEach year we take one evening to dedicate a special dinner and program for our hard working volunteers: those who regularly assist in the day to day functions of the center. They will honored and served by our staff and by our board members. Our volunteers will be notified by a special invitation for the April 18th dinner.

Alzheimer Support Group We are very

fortunate to have an Alzheimer Support Group right here at our center! They meet the 3rd

Monday of each month at 7:00 pm. If you or someone you know is a caregiver, this is a great community of support. All are welcome. The next meeting is Monday, April 16th at 7:00 pm.

It’s Spring Cleaning Time! Downsizing? Doing some spring cleaning projects around the home? Remember the Nifty Nook ! We take new and gently used items that we can sell. Unfortunately, due to space, larger items will not work for us. The profits from the Nook stay at the center for food, parties, bus upkeep, entertainment, decorations etc

Winner Winner!– Jonathon Jones was our lucky cal-cutta winner! He won $212.00 and

returned the entire amount to the center! What a win - $424.00 to the Center! Cal-cutta funds stay at the center for our use. Last month we had a singer and rented a soft ice cream machine. Both were funded by cal-cutta winnings. Thank you to everyone who played.

St. Patrick Day T-Shirt raffle. We had a donation of 4 St. Patrick’s Day Shirts to raffle

off. The winners were: Millie Cherney, Larry Gold, and Jim Nabors won 2 shirts.

Road Trips! Starting April 1st we will be taking reservations for these fun outings. Both trips

are $5.00 for the bus. You will need to bring your own money for lunch and gambling.

For our first outing you need to grab your lucky charm and some money because we are going to Winna Vegas! We will leave here at 8:30 am on Wednesday, April 25th.

Our second trip is to Lincoln NE to tour the state capitol. Last year, we filled our bus 3 times for this this! It’s very educational, a great way to spend the day. Who knows, maybe you’ll see Scott Frost! We will stop and have lunch before going on our 45 minute capitol tour, which starts at 2:00 pm . The tour date is Monday, April 30th at 11:00 am.

Over the past few years, the Bellevue Senior Community Center has experienced tremendous growth. As wecontinue to grow, we are always looking for new ways to improve the center. Continuing to grow while facedwith today’s economy is not always an easy task.

Because of our growth, the Bellevue Senior Community Center has created another opportunity for seniors andothers to support us, The Bellevue Senior Community Center Booster Club. The Booster Club is a 100%voluntary club that supports the efforts of the center. The cost to belong to the Booster Club is $24 per year. Wepro-rate the cost if you sign up now to ONLY $2.00 a month!
