The preservation of an abundant and diversely rich presence of fine fibre animals on earth serves not only to benefit creatives and consumers within the fashion industry, but the livelihoods of nomadic herders, farmers, shearers, mill workers, and artisans worldwide.
According to the United NationsFood and Agricultural Organization (FAO),over one third of the estimated 1400 breeds ofsheep that exist on earth are in danger of extinction.
Since the advent of theAnthropocene humans haveincreased the rate of species
extinction by 100-1000 times thebackground rates that were
typical over Earth’s history.
