GRADE 7 LEARNERS (And all gr 1 – 6 if
interested)
Dear Parents,
Grade 7s have always left a legacy behind by
helping the less-fortunate and reaching out to the
community in their final year. It is not necessary to be part of the small group which goes on 2 outings
in the year. ALL BPS learners can help in the areas they are passionate about. It's important to note
that giving and serving should be done cheerfully
and selflessly and not just for a reward. God loves a cheerful giver!
(If, by being active in the community along with
sport and cultural activities, your child is promoted to silver or gold learner rep status.....that is a
bonus! Our reward is the feeling we get when we
change the life of another human being, whether it is a small impact or a great one.)
Please download the document sent about
community outreaches.
These are some of the things kids can do:
1) Pollution Solution. (Bring a black bag and clean up the stairs and field and buildings.
2) Donate coins or notes to the orphanage in the class money box.
3) Donate Easter eggs closer to the time.
4) Donate second-hand items to Hidden Treasures. The charity shop sells them and
feeds nearly 300 orphans. Eg. Books, CDs,
DVDs, ornaments, toys, clothing, bedding,
stationery, games, appliances, etc. One man's trash is another man's treasure :)
5) Collect newspapers, blankets and pet food for the SPCA.
6) Collect plastic bread tags and bottle tops
towards a wheelchair for a handicapped or elderly person.
7) Donate old BPS uniforms for the 2nd-hand shop.
8) Knit squares and make a blanket for Babies Behind Bars. Collect clothing, nappies and
baby toiletries towards this cause. Pls tell
your kids that the babies didn't get arrested and locked up LOL! Some juniors were very
distressed by the name of the out reach. Too cute! Female prisoners may keep
babies they give birth to in prison for 2
years. 9) Anything else helpful. If it's for Scouts,
church, Girl Guides, mini-councillor, missionary trip, etc. then pls bring a letter
from the organisation to say what your child did. It can be shown to the Gr 7
mentor teacher. This goes for outside sport
too.
Posters are in the windows of each classroom to say which teacher is collecting a particular item.
Thank you for your continued kindness, generosity and compassion.
