This month’s spotlight focuses on British MODE writ-er, Kirsti Alexandra Reid who launches her own label, ‘K Alexandra’, alongside a beautifully crafted ‘Le De-but’ collection. For men’s design talent we highlight the work of rising star Helen Anthony, who show-cases chameleon-like brilliance throughout the range of his seamlessly tailored bespoke designs (pictured left). Combining avant-garde undertones with daring hints of retro, Anthony meshes the edgy and enduring throughout a new collection of remastered jackets, all of which form an intriguing take on knits and leathers.
Meanwhile we recap the hottest trends from SS15 menswear, which currently serves as the fastest area of growth within the fashion industry. Juxtaposing quin-tessentially British design and tailoring straight from Savile Row, against urban warrior themed 21st cen-tury gladiators, spring/summer 2015 is undoubtedly ablaze with a plethora of hues, styles and silhouettes.
As always, enjoy this month’s issue and do be sure to tweet us @BritishMODE or by using #BritishMODE

FALL INTO A FRENCH FANTA-SY WITH THIS BEAUTIFUL, EX-PERTLY CRAFTED SHIRT FROM Le Debut Collection, £240.00
British MODE writer, Kirsti Alexandra Reid,
branches out into the fabulous world of fashion. Revisiting
multicultural experiences, the K Alexandra brand’s Debut
collection is an intriguing fu-sion of French/English origin.
Founded by Kirsti Alexandra Reid, BA Hons Fashion graduate of Belfast School Of Art, K Alexandra sets foot in industry with the launch of its coveted Autumn/Win-ter 14 collection entitled Le Debut. Drawing inspiration from her time spent living and working in Paris, Le De-but encompasses the fast-paced and futuristic nature of
the Metropolitan Railway System.Channelling her thirst for travel and fascination with
French culture, K Alexandra’s designs move kinetically on the spec-trum between the classic and the contemporary, designing luxury
staple garments with a particular focus on tailored silhouettes. Le Debut embraces the personification of the modern day, urban
woman.
Le DEBUT
18
She dares to wear contra-dicting fabrics that are both rich yet humble. Reid is en-amoured by the pleasurable splendour of city life and often toys with a more am-biguous, androgynous look. Nonetheless her overall style remains overtly feminine through the use of subtle yet sensuous accents to her gar-ments such as the exposure of a neckline. The woman who dons such attire is slightly suggestive and provocative, commanding undivided at-tention as she enters a room. Le Debut allows the wearer to adopt the personality of the clothing, an thus become their most confident self.
Key fabrics for the collection include a luxurious metallic hair on cow hide leather and liquid patent and metallic leather vinyl in pewter and kohl black. With an entire-ly metallic monochrome colour palette, K Alexandra has produced one of a kind, bespoke digital prints from hand rendered illustrations and photography of the Pa-risian rain on the windows of the metro. It’s clear to see that this collection has set a directional and distinguish-able style for the brand. From concept creation to sampling and produc-tion, Reid adopts a hands on approach to produc-tion, ensuring her involve-ment in each process of the design is at the forefront.

ADULTFlorals
Whilst many assume that the floral trend has captured the heart’s of millions of women across the nation, it is still the case that florals can look somewhat young and out of place when worn in certain settings. Nonetheless, as with any pattern or style, it can always be worn in a va-riety of ways to best suit the wearer. Here at Brit-ish MODE we want to change the opinion that florals are overly girly and some-what imma-ture, and for that we’re turning to Burberry to show us how it’s done.
24
Bailey’s showcase was in a word, dream-like. Cocoon jackets, bow-backed knits, pencil skirts featuring geomet-ric floral cutouts, a gem-em-bellished vinyl jacket and petal appliqué clutches all graced the catwalk in an array of innocently sweet pastel hues. Inter-woven with this play on the classi-cally femi-nine were a selection of reinvented 1950’s pin-up looks, all encapsulat-ed within a range of monochrome garments. This highly adorned col-lection re-veals a more playful, less structured side to the Burberry brand.

Set to be one of Savile Row’s future finest, upcoming design genius, Anthony, of Helen Anthony, is al-ready making waves in
the world of menswear. From a young age Anthony was utterly enthralled with the memorising materials used by his great-grand-mother, Helen Thomas. A catalyst for his childhood curiosity, the designer pays homage to a talent-ed woman to whom he attributes the foundation of his career, with a one half namesake of the label.
‘Fashion is an art and craft that reflects on the nature of the body and on individual creativity,’ an ideal which is thoroughly em-braced by the brand. With the unique ability to maintain a clas-sic, sharply tailored style yet adapt to the ever changing moods and trends of the industry, Antho-ny’s chameleon-like sensibility enables a smooth transition be-tween autumn/winter and spring/summer collections, whilst keep-ing the integrity of the brand’s signature style.
‘We are the quiet confi-dence, the assured style. We are the unique state-ment, that brave message that delineates us from the rest. We are the break in the grey, the change in the tem-po, the double take though a crowd. Bold, innovative forward thinking, yet time-
44
lessly classic, we are the second guess, the elegant contradiction. We are the difference and a step outside of the usual. Whether it is for a simple day to day touch of class, or a striking show of refinement, our lines of fine bespoke tailored suits have something for every occasion.’ This statement from the brand only serves to further highlight their passion, dedication and clear commitment to producing one-of-a-kind garments which are centred around and cater to the individual, for a truly personalised experience.
For the brands glorious autumn/winter 13-14 debut collection the designer was inspired by the beau-ty of life and creation. Anthony uses his razor-sharp eye for clean lines to specially cut and tailor each garment and the result is truly astonishing. Incorporating an intriguing blend of three styles of lapel (shawl, peak and notch) the designer’s first collection housed bespoke suits with a glove-like fit which gently caress the con-tours of the male form to perfectly ac-centuate a tight, well-toned physique.
Though the collection is classically cut the materials provide a beautiful dynamism, ranging from the softer velvet and wool, to naturalistic tweed and the less organic Acrylic, polyes-ter and viscose blends. With a tonal colour palette ranging from mus-tard, midnight violet and charcoal grey to a complimentary pairing of soft mint green resting against deep emerald, there truly is something for every type of soirée or social milieu.
Prices range from £800 for a 2 piece suit to £1000 for a 3 piece.45

Retro meets avant-gar-de in Helen Antho-ny’s new ‘Rose Mary’
collection, which focuses solely on luxurious hand knit jumpers which fall with-in the main collection of ‘Bold & Elegant Creation’.
Chunky, oversized dense knits create the appearance of a masculine silhouette and form a strong outline to the physique. Nonetheless each jumper is hand crafted from only the finest Welsh yarn which gives a light-weight feel to the garment.
Herein a colossal of col-ours collide in natural-
istic earthy hues to reflect the multi-tonal hues of nature. Each jumper has a power-fully descriptive name mir-roring the colour signature. Names include: Elephant’s Day Dream, Wasabi Squeeze, Cherry, Autumn Leaves, Velvet Leaf, Oyster Blush.
The cuffs, neckline and hem-line are accented with large ribbed detailing, tapering the line of the garment to conform to the body. As pictured, each jumper can easily be styled with skinny jeans or form fitting trousers for a relaxed yet urban feel.

Raeburn’s SS15 collection is laced with a militant undertone. Un-like the Arctic themed AW14 col-lection, for summer 2015 Raeburn refashioned MIG fighter jet suits into wearable urban hoodies, using his favourite recycled materials.

A nautical inspired collection was debut-ed by Smedley fea-turing updated fish-erman knits with a micro-texture finish, grandad collar tops, joggers, polos and shorts. Meanwhile over at Moschino it was an all American affair with models sport-ing dreadlocks whilst wearing soda can slo-gan inspired suits, encrusted capes and signs, duffle bags, baseball boots, slid-ers, and rain macs.68

With a strictly black, white and orange colour palette inspired by Greek soldiers and gods, KTZ’s muscular models sported in-novative, mythologically charged garments. Leather cap and visor helmets, patch-worked printed and sequinned oversized shirts and gladiator-esque sandals were but a few things n show. Boxer style gloves cup the palms of a model wearing an oversized sheer mesh shirt featuring b&w detailing from shoulder to cuff whilst a slick shiny leather coats hangs from the shoulder of a model sporting a laurel leaf chain featuring a god-head.
