Inthefinancearea,wehavestartedfocusingontheissueofriskandcomplianceasanessentialvalueaddingcomponent.Giventhevolatilityandinterconnectednessoffinancialmarkets,thereis an increasing risk of contagion, and we have expanded the scope of risk measurement beyond thetraditionalframeworkstoincludenewertechniquesofriskanalyticsusingBigDataandblackboxapproaches.BFSIrecruitersfindthisasaverydesirableskillsettoaddtotheirglobaloperationcentersinIndiainstrengtheningtheirriskassessmentandmeasurementcapabilitieswith our students.
Beingresearchactiveisagreatboonintheclassaswell.IamabletoexplainrelevantstatisticaltechniquesinmyMarketingResearchclassduetoconstantuse.Moreover,Iapplytheminreal-worldresearchissues;studentsgettolearnnotjustthetechniquesbutalsotheirapplication,andthis helps them during the placement process. My research typically involves an extensive review oftheliteratureandthus,Iamabletoimpartcuttingedgeknowledgetostudents,whichtheyapplytoreal-worldmarketingsituations.
Myresearch,teachingandconsultingexpertiseintheareasofSupplyChainOperations,DataSciences&Analyticsprovidemewithauniqueperspectiveonhowcompaniesneedtomanagetheir global supply chains. Though most supply chains were built to manage high-volume and stableproduction,companiesnowneedtoshifttosmaller,agile/nimblerentitiesthatarebetterprepared to handle high levels of uncertainty and complexity. Students are able to understand howwithbettervisibilityintoSupplyChainoperations,companiescanachievehigherefficiencygainsandprofitabilityandalsomanageoperationsinthisVUCAworld.
AIMLA(ArtificialIntelligence,MachineLearning,andAnalytics)isthenewfrontierinbusinessanalyticsthatpromisesagreatfutureintermsofattractivecareeropportunitiesforbuddingyoung students of management from leading business schools. Against this backdrop, GreatLakes,tobeintunewiththecurrentpatterninAnalyticsEducationandtobeaChampionandTrendSetter,introducedtheAIMLASpecializationthisyearforthePGPMstudents.AIMLAis being implemented with the aim of training our students to be job ready and addressing the talentgapalongside.InmycourseonStatisticalMethodsforDecisionMaking(SMDM)andPredictiveAnalyticsforMarketing(PAM),IemphasizeonhowAnalyticsshouldbepositionedintheambitofAIMLA,sothatstudentscanstraightawayunderstandtheneedsofcorporatesandswiftlymoveintoactionforstrategicdecisions.
