SCHOOL EVENTS
SPIC MACAY
Cambridge School, Noida under the aegis of SPICMACAY, hosted a violin recital by the renowned
violinist Mr. Johar Ali Khan on 16th April, 2019 in the Roma Deb Auditorium. Mr. Johar Ali Khan
was accompanied by Mr. Umair Khan on the tabla, Ms. Jaya Chaudhary on the tanpura and Mr.
Shekhar Khanijo on the harmonium.
The programme commenced with the auspicious lighting of the lamp by Mr. Johar Ali and his
accompanying artistes, Dr. Kalyani Roy and members of the management committee. The event
was attended by the staff and students of Cambridge School, Noida and sister schools.
Mr. Johar Ali began his performance by playing a South Indian raga-Kirwani followed by a
composition called ‘Rupak Taal’ which showcased the richness and diversity of Indian Classical
music. The spectacular and hypnotizing ‘Jugalbandhi’ between Mr. Johar Ali on the violin and Mr.
Umair Khan on the tabla held everyone spellbound.
Mr. Johar Ali also interacted with the students and appreciated them for their keen interest in
music. The event was graced by Dr. Kalyani Roy, Director, SAE, Principal, Mr. Soumen
Chakraborty and distinguished members of the management committee.

EARTH DAY: 2019
Cambridge School, NOIDA observed Earth Day on 22ndApril, 2019 by organizing a number of
competitions for the students which included Poster Making, Eco Poetry Composition, Model
presentations on innovative designs on waste management and symposium. Students participated
with great zeal and enthusiasm.
A brief cultural programme was followed by a workshop conducted by CEIS, NOIDA.

The aim of the workshop was to emphasize the importance of waste management and
segregation of waste for greater utility, avoiding use of polybags and being a conscious citizen.
Games were conducted on waste segregation and a movie was shown depicting the journey of
‘Recycling of tetra pack’.
Activities galore: Earth Day 2019
LINGUA FIESTA- BEYOND BORDERS
Nothing beats the pleasure of acquiring knowledge about foreign lands and languages. An Inter
School French and German competition Lingua Fiesta- Beyond Borders which was an initiative
to foster and promote French and German languages among school children through collaborative
learning was held on 26th April, 2019 in Cambridge School, Noida. The event which was held in
collaboration with Max Mueller Bhavan saw around 35 schools participating in the fiesta. The
event was a mélange of various activities which included music, dance and art, portraying the
beauty of the two languages. The occasion began with the Principal, Mr Soumen Chakraborty
welcoming the participants and the judges, Ms. Babusha Verma, Ms. Preeti Bhutani, Ms. Jagriti
Budhiraja & Mr. Sanjib Sen.
A total of six competitions were held namely Présentez- Vous. (Who am I?), L’Affiche (Poster
Making) and Euphony (Group Song) in the French language and Wer Bin Ich (Who am I?), Graffiti
(poster making) and Euphony in the German language for Classes VI, VII & VIII respectively. The
poster making competition for both the languages was held in the stilted area of the schools.
Présentez- Vous and Wer Bin Ich took place in the Roma Deb auditorium, followed by the French
and German Euphony. After the completion of all the events the judges declared the much
anticipated results and gave away the prizes to the winners. The function came to an end with the
vote of thanks by the Vice Principal Ms. Nandita Sinha Roy.

Breaking Barriers
CHEMICAL COCKTAIL: AN EMERGING THREAT TO HUMANS AND
ENVIRONMENT
A presentation on CHEMICAL COCKTAIL: An Emerging threat to Humans and Environment
was conducted by the Chemistry Department on 25th April, 2019 at Cambridge School, Noida. It
was attended by Dr. Kalyani Roy, Director SAE, Colonel Chaudhary and Mr. Vikram Roy along
with the teachers and students from sister schools.
The presentation began with Ms. Mamta Rishi explaining about the chemical reactions that are
constantly occurring in the environment thereby causing numerous substances and chemicals to
come in contact with each other. Some of these chemicals are natural, while some are man-made.
Scientists have realized that the chemicals found in a wide array of household goods are more
toxic than previously thought. Cosmetics have a long history of damaging both the environment
and health. Ms. Bindu Muralidharan discussed the effect of cosmetics on humans and their impact
on the environment. Ms. Arpita Paul highlighted the toxins present in our clothes and went on to
explain the toxic chemicals used in making garments wrinkle- or shrinkage-free, flame-resistant,
waterproof, stain-resistant, mildew-resistant, or cling-free. Ms. Ayesha Khan explained the
importance of chemical analytical procedures used in a forensic lab. The session was interesting
and informative and was appreciated by Dr. Kalyani Roy, Director SAE and Col Chaudhary who
actively participated in the discussion which followed. The presentation ended with Mr. Vikram Roy
suggesting that the students and teachers should have an action plan for activities which
generates environmental consciousness.

WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS FOR STUDENTS
ORIENTATION PROGRAMME: CLASS VII
Cambridge school, NOIDA organised an orientation programme for the parents of students of
Class VII on 20th April, 2019 in the Roma Deb auditorium in the school campus. The aim was to
familiarize the parents as ‘Partners in Progress’ with the curriculum, rules and regulations of the
school, teaching methodologies and the co-scholastic activities.
The programme commenced with a welcome song by the school choir followed by a beautiful
classical dance performance by the students. Kshitij Ved of class XI mesmerised the audience
with a mellifluous rendition of a ghazal. The Principal, Mr. Soumen Chakraborty addressed the
gathering and familiarized the parents with the cultural and working atmosphere of the school. In
his speech he laid emphasis on the NCERT curriculum and also on time management. He laid
stress on effective communication between the teachers & the parents.
The coordinators Ms. Jyoti Agarwal and Ms. Vasundra Kaushik familiarized the parents with the
ethos, culture and philosophy of the school followed by the detail explanation of the assessment
criteria being followed by the school as prescribed by CBSE.
Ms. Roomki Mitra the Special Educator discussed the process of inclusion and steps related to
identification of students with special needs seeking cooperation from parents in supporting
children with special needs.
The session was concluded by Ms. Nandita Sinha Roy, Vice Principal Academics who readily
answered the questions of the parents. Ms. Nandita Sinha Roy said that a creative curriculum
offers children plenty of opportunities to exhibit creative behaviour and that they must be given the
chance to develop their creativity to the fullest.
Ms. Mehak Sharma and her team briefed the parents on how robotics can increase a student’s
ability to be creative and foster innovative thinking making them a more productive member of the
society. The orientation programme ended on a positive note with the aim of making our children
happy, skilful and creatively well- adjusted citizens.

Orientation Programme in progress
ORIENTATION PROGRAMME: CLASS IX
Cambridge School, Noida conducted an orientation programme for the parents of students of
Class IX on 20th April, 2019 in the Roma Deb Auditorium. Parents and students were accorded a
warm welcome by Ms. Nandita Sinha Roy, VP (Academics). In her welcome address she
emphasised upon the need for proactive and meaningful interactions between the teachers’ and
parents for the holistic development of the students. She briefed the parents regarding the mode
of preparations and approach to be adopted by the students towards Board Exams. The school is
striving towards developing different strategies to help students to cope and achieve their best.
This was followed by a soulful rendition of the famous hymn ‘Vaishnav Jan to……’ by Kshitij Bedi.
A mesmerising Kathak Dance performance by Arooja Tyagi was well appreciated by the audience.
A documentary highlighting the mission, vision and the ultimate aim of Cambridge Group of
Schools ‘We learn to Serve’ was screened.
Co-ordinators of Classes IX and X, Ms. Kiran Sibal and Ms. Puneet Kaur briefed the parents about
the school’s guidelines and code of conduct. Comprehensive information on the CBSE evaluation
pattern, revised changes in the curriculum, health and physical education, vocational subjects and
the promotion criteria were shared with the parents.
Ms. Rachna Arora proudly announced that Cambridge School, Noida is one of the few schools to
have received a grant to set up ‘Atal Tinkering Lab’ which not only fosters creativity, curiosity,
innovation and hands on experience but also hones the life skills and thinking skills of students.

Ms. Roomki Mitra (Special Educator) informed the parents about the diverse range of services
available for children with special needs in the school. She stressed that the process of inclusion is
an ongoing practice sensitising teachers and peer groups.
Ms. Garima Seth the School Counsellor emphasized the need for counselling to provide support
and guidance to students through individual and group therapy sessions.
This was followed by an interactive session wherein the specific concerns raised by the parents
were addressed by Ms Nandita Sinha Roy (VP Academics). She stressed that PTMs should be
taken seriously as it keeps one connected with the school.
She thanked the parents for their presence and valuable feedback and suggestions.
WORKSHOP ON AEROBIN
A workshop on the working principle of Aerobin was conducted on 15th April, 2019 in the Roma
Deb auditorium, Cambridge School, Noida by an NGO named IPCA (Indian Pollution Control
Association) working in collaboration with Swarn Lata Motherson Trust. The resource person
explained the importance of waste segregation and its management. She explained about the
working principle of Aerobin that will be installed near the canteen on 05th July 2019. The Aerobin
will convert vegetable peels generated from canteen as ‘waste’ along with dry leaves into compost
in 45 days.
SCRAP OUT SCRAP
This workshop was a part of the ongoing solid waste management project conducted by TERI
Advance School of Studies on 26th April, 2019 at their campus. It was attended by around
15schools from the NCR. Ten students along with Ms. Kiran Sibal from Cambridge School, Noida
attended the workshop. In this session the students assessed the strengths and weaknesses of
their respective schools in terms of solid waste management and tried to design an action plan to
achieve the target of being a ZERO WASTE school by 2020. It was an enriching session focussing
on waste is a resource which needs to be managed properly by composting, recycling and
effective treatment.

CAPACITY BUILDING FOR TEACHERS
DELHI'S MULTI- FACETED HERITAGE AND WORLD HERITAGE SITES
A teacher training workshop on Delhi's Multi- Faceted heritage and world heritage sites was
conducted by INTACH on 16thApril, 2019. Teachers from various schools participated in the
workshop which started with INTACH film depicting the work of the organisation. The entire
workshop was divided into five sessions.
Session1. INDIA Unlimited was conducted by Ms. Purnima Dutt, Ms. Shivaa Rawat and Ms
Teresa Walter.
Session2. Delhi's Built Heritage and Its Relationship with Living World conducted by Dr.
Swapna Liddle
Session3. World Heritage Sites conducted by Mr. Bipin Shah and Dr. Narayani Gupta.
Session 4.Conducting Heritage Activities with children conducted by Mr. Sohail Hashmi
Session5. Illustrating World Heritage Sites Book Series conducted by Mr. Shashi Shetye.
After the sessions there was a group activity wherein teachers were told to construct a story on
any one heritage monument in their area.
Maple publishers got an opportunity to introduce various books authored by renowned historians
and conservationists. The workshop was interesting and gave an opportunity to focus more on
creativity and imagination. It also developed a sense of responsibility towards preserving India's
common heritage and spreading the importance of heritage in education by creating various
activities by the Heritage Club of schools.

CBSE CAREER GUIDANCE
A workshop on CAREER GUIDANCE was conducted by CBSE on 26th and 27th April, 2019 at Shri
Krishna Public School, Bhangel, Noida. It was attended by Ms. Roomki Mitra, Special Educator,
Cambridge School, Noida. The workshop aimed at providing insight to different career options
related to different subjects along with exploring various skills and qualities required to match the
requirements of desired career paths
SPORTS
1st NMAK PATAUDI INTERSCHOOL CRICKET TOURNAMENT
The 1st NMAK PATAUDI INTERSCHOOL CRICKET TOURNAMENT was held from 18th April,
2019 to 1st May, 2019 in which 12 top teams of NCR participated. Cambridge School, Noida won
the Semi-Final match of the tournament by 9 wickets defeating Sardar Patel School, Lodhi Road
Delhi and entering the finals. Akshay Mishra of Class VIII was awarded the Man of the Match.
The final match of the tournament was a day-night match played at Jamia Sports Complex, New
Delhi between Kalka Public School, Delhi and Cambridge School, Noida. The victorious team
Cambridge School, Noida won by 8 wickets. Yash Gupta of Class IX was adjudged the Man of
the Match and Best Batsman of the tournament. He was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 5100/-
and each player of the winning team was gifted a cricket kit bag.
Cambridge School, Noida has the distinctive honour of winning the inaugural NMAK Pataudi Inter
School Cricket Rolling Trophy for the year 2019.
