Canmore is a community where it is easy to find a real sense of inspiration amid an awe-inspiring mountain setting, and attracts a real diversity of remarkable residents. It is a haven for artists, writers and musicians, all of whom can flourish in an authentic atmosphere.
It is said that Canmore has more published writers per capita than anywhere else in Canada, and nowhere else in Canada will you find such prolific artists so vividly capturing the Rocky Mountain lifestyle.
Take some time to enjoy one of the Main Street art galleries, spend an evening at a dinner theatre, explore the art studios of Elk Run, or take the easy stroll along the downtown public art walking tour — a surprising collection of murals and sculptures.
Public Art (in transit)Enjoy a stroll of approximately one hour through Canmore’s downtown and enjoy just a small sampling of the sculptures, murals and installations that dot the Canmore Landscape. For more information visit the downtown Visitor Info Centre or go to canmore.ca

As local residents will tell you, Canmore is “real” and the people, businesses, and amenities are organic to the soul of the community. Nothing embodies this more than the experience of visiting the town’s thriving downtown core.
Downtown Canmore is where Canmore’s remarkable residents are to be found, the Olympic athletes, the Everest summiteers, the authors and the artists. In Canmore however things are different — here those remarkable residents are shop owners, innkeepers, or just people normally enjoying a coffee in the café.
We invite you to take a stroll downtown and experience the heart of our vibrant community.
