Thursday 13 May 2010

Message from the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President BusinessIt is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2010 RMIT Business Prize Giving Ceremony. Tonight RMIT University and the broader community will celebrate the extraordinary achievements of our business students for the 2009 academic year.
Congratulations to our prize winners for their significant accomplishments across a range of business disciplines. You are our brightest stars and your achievements ensure the continuing success and strong reputation of RMIT. Your ideas, your energy, your capacity for reflective practice and your dedication to your work are excellent predictors of your potential as effective leaders in the unfolding environment of modern business.
Many of the prize winners with us tonight are recent graduates, already using their skills and competencies in the world of business or undertaking further study. I would like to take this opportunity to wish them all the best in their chosen careers and remind them to stay in touch. As RMIT alumni they remain part of the RMIT story and there is nothing we like better than hearing all of your good news.
But while tonight we celebrate our students, it is also an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the exceptional support the College receives from industry, government and the wider community. I am enormously thankful to the businesses, organisations, and professional bodies represented here tonight. Your generous, longstanding commitment towards recognising the outstanding efforts of our business students and the many opportunities you offer them through work integrated learning are what lends this Prize Giving real world authenticity and completes the loop from industry relevance to industry recognition, upon which RMIT’s reputation is built.
