The Centre for Pre-University Studies (CPUS) has a long tradition of academic excellence since its inception as the pioneer school of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (then known as Tunku Abdul Rahman College) in 1969. The Centre offers 4 pre-university programmes for students who wish to gain admission into universities. The four programmes are the Foundation in Science, Foundation in Arts, Cambridge GCE A Level Science, and Cambridge GCE A Level Arts.
The Cambridge GCE A Level qualification is highly regarded for its quality and is recognised as proof of academic achievement for admission into first degree programmes. The Cambridge International AS and A level syllabi are designed to develop in-depth understanding of subject matter, encourage independent learning, and foster critical thinking, all of which are pre-requisites for success at university and the workplace.
Our home-grown Foundation Programmes are accepted and recognised as entry qualifications for undergraduate programmes offered by TAR UC. The academically rigorous Foundation programmes bridge the knowledge gap between secondary and higher education. The syllabi emphasise both depth and breadth to equip you with a solid foundation for smooth progression into relevant bachelor degree programmes.

I like the warm and welcoming learning environment at CPUS where students and lecturers have a very close relationship. Our A Level lecturers are very approachable, caring and they are always there to assist us. I would not achieve excellent results and the Cambridge Top in the World award for both AS and A Level Mathematics if not for their guidance.

Yap Kwan KenChoosing TAR UC’s A Level programme is unquestionably the wisest decision I’ve ever made. I have benefitted from a very generous merit scholarship and also a world class pre-university education. Students also get to enjoy comprehensive facilities including a state-of-the-art cyber centre and a large library. I am also most indebted to my passionate A Level lecturers who wish for nothing but the best for their students. If I were to summarise my A Level experience at TAR UC in one word, it has to be ‘FANTASTIC’!

TAR UC’s Cambridge A Level has prepared me well for my bachelor degree programme at NTU. The lecturers at TAR UC are very experienced, amiable and helpful. My A Level lecturers motivated me to develop a positive mindset towards my studies and helped me to discover my passion. Besides that, I enjoyed using the top-notch facilities available at the laboratories and library. I would definitely recommend post-SPM students to pursue their pre-university studies at TAR UC.

The A Level programme has equipped me with the knowledge and skills essential for my undergraduate study. TAR UC’s Cambridge A Level students are well-supported by a variety of facilities and services available on campus. A Level is a very tough pre-university programme but the learning environment at TAR UC is very conducive and supportive. Our lecturers are always accessible, and they are always willing to go the extra mile to guide us. They will also push you beyond your limits, but your hard work will eventually pay off.
