An addition to Drama Trunk Drama Card
sets, use these Theatre Style Cards for advanced drama
education
SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES:
THEATRE STYLE SCENES–Add a theatre style to any scene
or improvisation to enhance the scene and develop understanding of different styles/genres. Perform a scene multiple times in different styles to discover new things about the different styles and how they affect meaning.
STYLE SHIFT–In pairs or small groups, students devise and
perform a scene that begins in one theatre style and develops into a second style.
THEATRE STYLE SWITCH–Individually; in pairs or small
groups, students play out a monologue or scene and switch theatre style quickly on cue. Involve audience members by having them pick cards and call out the new theatre style. Fun way to understand different theatre styles for advanced groups.
FAIRYTALE SHAKE-UP–In small groups, re-tell and perform a
well known fairytale in an allocated style.
ADVANCED DRAMA EDUCATION–Use these Theatre Style
cards to prompt activities and research assignments on different theatre styles and genres.
