Social Studies Credits• There are only two endorsements that require
four years of social studies:• World Geography • World History• US History• Government & Economics
• All others require three social studies credits: • World Geography OR World History• US History• Government & Economics
HOWEVER….• Four-year colleges and universities WANT to see
all four years of social studies credits. • We encourage all students to take all four years
of social studies for this reason. • 9th Grade - World Geography• 10th Grade - World History• 11th Grade - US History• 12th Grade - Government & Economics
Distinguished Level of Achievement• Students can earn the distinguished level of
achievement by:• Completing the Foundation High School Plan with an
Endorsement *AND*• Receiving credit for Algebra 2
• Required to be eligible for Top 10% Automatic Admission in Texas Public Universities
Regular vs Advanced Courses• Advanced courses (Pre-AP, AP, OnRamps,
and Dual Credit) are more challenging:• Pace of instruction• Depth of study• Volume of homework • Level of teacher guidance• Expectations for organization, maturity, and self-
direction

What is a PGP?• PGP = Personal Graduation Plan
• Four-year plan that details which courses a student will take each year in high school
• TEA requires that all high school students have a complete PGP on file signed by both the student and parent.
• PGPs are living documents… “in pencil on purpose.”

“choice sheet” as they have in the past.
